that's cool. what about covering her arms with fishnet though? that's what i was thinkingThanks guys! I would have liked to work them in too, but I just couldn't see how they would fit. I wanted to try to give her more of a costume, rather than modified street clothes. Although I agree that fish nets are really ingrained in the character's iconography, I decided to try and take a step forward and turn them into real pants.
that's cool man; your design, you go with what you likeehh maybe. But I think when in doubt it's better to keep it simple, you know? I've already got three different colors alternating and the circular pattern on the chest, so to add another crosshatching pattern along with a different color for the fishnets to read could make it a little too busy. Though I was playing with a version that had black long sleeves which looked cool.
i'm just spitballingNot necessarily for Superman, but I really really like that.
why not for Supes, Drakon?
Probably because it's a bit too armory. It's a nice touch, but Superman doesn't really need body protection, seeing as he is bulletproof and all.
Not so much the armor bit, per se. But, to me, it kind of comes off as regal. Like, if Arthur Curry had developed Superman-like powers from having to survive under the sea instead of fish-talking and magic-hands, I could see him wearing a variation of this suit. Or, even an Earth-11 Wonder Woman [Earth-11 is the gender switched one, if memory serves]. But for Supes, it just seems kind of out of character, unless he was made King of Krypton or something.
well, sux that you don't think it fits, but i'm actually kinda glad that you said what i bolded. "regal" or "royal" was pretty much what i was going for. my way of thinking is that his suit should reflect his public image. many see him as a modern day god and one suit i thought reflected that well was the movie version of Ozymandias. Ozymandias also happens to be another name for Pharoah Ramses the Great who is royalty of course. most gods/demigods are also some sort of royalty (Jesus/Hercules son of God/Zeus). on top of that, Jor-El was a leader on Krypton so he's somewhat of a royal figure and since Kal-El is that last son of Krypton that pretty much makes him royalty anyway. he has the perfect colors for use in regal attire and i think him looking more royal also add to him looking more divine.
anyway, i know not everyone's gonna agree with my though process, but that's just how i went about designing that suit.

that's cool. s'all good Drakon, i wasn't trying to attack or anything...just informing.Well, don't get me wrong. I really like the design on it's own merit, and truth be told, I'm a big fan of the revamped logo. And knowing the thought process behind it all makes it even more likable.
i suppose so, haha...go for it.Would you mind if I tinkered with the colors a bit and post what I mean about the Aquaman part?
it's hard to create trunks that has a design that DOESN'T look to the crotch. most costumes follow anatomy, and the human body's musculature naturally points to the crotch...hehe^ I like it a lot... my one sort of gripe about it is that the flow of the lines on the briefs leads your eyes to his crotch. In film/photography they call those vector lines... aside from that, though, i think its awesome. kuddos![]()

M.O. Steel, i'm not diggin' that latest manip, bro. too many 'ribs' on his forearms and shins. it's too busy.
it's okay. i know this is gonna sound egotistical, but honestly, i draw characters the way i do for a reason so while i don't mind if anyone manips them, i also don't really care for the manips themselves. the blue gauntlets don't jive with me because i think if he's gonna have gauntlets they might as well be a different color. the \S/ is the regular one so no opinion on that other than what i normally have when i see that \S/. also, the changes to the colors are a tad dark for my tastes. maybe it's just my monitor (i haven't calibrated it yet) but the darkness makes it seem unfriendly.fair enough.
but you never commented on the "original" manip.
