Present day. And antman is set in modern-day as well.

No its modern day, with flashbacks i believe. Hank pym in his prime will exist in the 70s. But the movie is about Scott lang.

Does anyone know the exact schedule of all the Netflix stuff? Like are we getting one show a year leading to Defenders or how is this all going to shake out?

There's nothing official, but if I had to guess I'd say it'll be two a year - meaning we'd get Defenders in 2017. I suppose the remaining three all releasing in 2016 could be possible too, but unlikely.

So now that we've heard that there will be a gap of about a year between each series, when do you guys think this show will come out? Can't be 2019. :(

???
:(

I did think it was weird that they announced Jessica Jones was gonna premiere in 2015 when they didnt even cast the main role until late last year.

Nothing personal against "Agents of SHIELD", but I feel like a "Defenders" show on ABC Network would have been more appealing to watch from the start, with Coulson still appearing there as a bridge to the MCU in some capacity, but with the series centering around these heroes and how they came to be together, especially after the events of "The Avengers" and them finding their own identity outside of the "Avengers" who are more recognizable to the world.

I wonder if we'll be seeing Hellcat in the Defenders, considering she's been cast in AKA Jessica Jones. It'd be cool if we saw a team of five or six heroes.

Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Hellcat and someone else... Misty Knight?

I'll be shocked if the Defenders only consisted of the four heroes.

I think it'd be just the four main ones with maybe some cameos/easter eggs/set ups for other heroes.

Hellcat or whoever will happen in Jessica Jones season 2, Defenders Part 2

I hope Hellcat is in the Defenders. It should be a combination of the Marvel Knights/ Heroes for Hire group and the actual comic Defenders so that it isn't completely just Defenders in name only. Having Hellcat here helps that.

I just hope her role doesn't end up like Yondu in GOTG where he wasn't even an actual Guardian at all but just used in a different way.

Would be cool if they could get Nighthawk/ Kyle Richmond now, since I don't really see them having Valkyrie. He could just about fit into the street heroes category at a stretch.

I think it may depend on who the main villain is going to be for the Defenders. If it's Kingpin and his army of thugs, then it will probably be those four. If it was someone with super powers like Moses Magnum, it's going to take more than those four.

I think Purple Man will take more than the four to beat him.

That would be cool, and a good way to introduce more diverse heroes and characters.

So the team will consist ofDaredevil=Probably the leader
Luke Cage=the Muscle
Iron Fist=The Tactician/Planner
Jessica Jones=Possibly the glue that holds the team together.

I'd be fine with a small team like that we don't need a large scale 6-8 memeber team. Something big enough to take on a small powerful threat. Like maybe, an army of The Hand Ninja's. That'd be an awesome team up.

Come to think of it. Since most of these hereoes have some sort of power(assuming Daredevil's radar sense counts) would't it be wiser to just give the a Netflix Movie instead? I mean, what enemies are thwy gonna go up against as a team in the series that are small enough for a Netflix budget to pull off but not so big that they belong in movies instead.

Does anyone else think that after the Defenders mini-event that will be the thing that launches these characters into the MCU proper? Sort of how Avengers brought those guys to the attention of the public?

The budget for these shows is nothing to shake a stick at. I believe it's over $1 million per episode. I'm sure this series will get a bit of a bigger budget than the normal shows

Where does Marvel get this kind of money? Wait, where does Netflix get this kind of money?!

Netflix gets its money from subscriptions. No one really knows how much or what they can devote to original programming.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter as long as we keep getting Netflix series.

The cumulative budget for the Netflix/Marvel series was reported to be $200 mill.

13 episodes for each individual series, and 4 to 8 episodes for The Defenders... I've read conflicting reports on that. So, basically between $3.3 and $3.6 mill per episode depending on whether we're getting a total of 56 or 60 episodes.

Netflix's revenue in 2014 was $5.5 billion. I recently read that they're investing pretty heavily into original content, and that their intent is to put out a series (animation, drama, comedy... whatever) every two weeks. If there's one thing we can be sure both Netflix and Marvel are not lacking, it's money. :)

Going by what we've seen of Daredevil, 'tis money well spent.

I'm really hoping they lose the defenders name before this one gets into production . Heroes for hire would have been better....but if they want them to be a team and not for profit.....then honestly Marvel Knights is the way to go

I'm still hoping for Dr strange and hulk......namor. ... an actual defenders movie

Why would they need to be "launched"? They will be part of the MCU from the first episode.
