The Director of Flash is...

I'm mildly intrigued, but I wont allow myself to get too excited until we get like full casting details. Then it gets real.

cool news about great, i really hope flash will get into production stages this time around. Cant wait to see what happens here. Though shouldnt this have been posted in the flash thread we already have here in dc films section?

The excitement about this surprises me. As with Green Lantern, there's little to suggest Berlanti is an appropriate choice, and while there's also no reason to assume he can't do it, an unknown quantity doesn't seem like something to get excited about.

This is the latest in a long string of directorial choices for the Flash that I just don't get. With the exception of Goyer, it's been comedy director after comedy director, and it just baffles me. Yes, Flash comics can be light-hearted--but the Flash is science fiction first, so hire a science fiction director. Every choice has been, at best, completely unpredictable, and at worst downright craptacular. The Flash is an important property to me, and I want the best for this film. So far, only Johns' involvement inspires confidence. I don't know what to think about Berlanti.

I'm really not sure why everyone is so excited about Greg Berlanti. Him being the original director for Green Lantern doesn't give him that much cred in my book, and the TV shows he used to write for were pretty damn bland. Not saying he won't do well, but I'm just not sure where all this excitement is coming from.

Nor am I, some are making it sound like some well respected director with years of solid films is the one taking charge, I'm thinking a large part of it is just shear relief that Flash is moving forward.

How well he can direct I dont know, but the support I'd guess is because he was the spearhead that got Green Lantern off the ground and came up with a pretty cool idea and script. People are probably hoping he does the same with Flash.

As for casting, I've thought about this for awhile, but The Flash is where I can really see Jensen Ackles shining.

again, I hope he's like Matt Reeves who did Cloverfield.

He did some rom coms himself, and he was a writer for Alias before taking on Cloverfield.

A few times. Yeah I loved it. It's funny as hell, plus all the leads from Hercules and Xena make it an epic win. Oh and Julia is great

It's fairly important to me too.

It's really hard to nail down rookie directors who are talented. There's isn't a track record to go by..

Like before, I've mentioned that Berlanti's closest comparison would be Matt Reeves who did Cloverfield; previously he did mostly TV work.

Say what you will about M. Night, but he started off with a Rosie O' Donnell movie before The Six Sense.

With music video directors, you can strike gold with Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry and most recently Marc Webb. But then you got guys like Brett Ratner.

In the indie scene, WB struck gold with Christopher Nolan. Neill Bloomkamp has never made a feature length movie before District 9. But then you get guys like the dude who did Wolverine, who really really sucked.

i thought the first one was ambitious in it's own right and visually amazing. as amazing as Blade Runner and probably as influential.

But the movie itself was fairly dull. I love slow movies and i can tolerate 'slow burn' pacing if its done right. Tron was just slow and uninteresting when they were in the real world.
