The Disney owns Fox thread

Disney may not have a choice. Comcast is bigger than Disney. Comcast has $180+ billion in assets. Disney has $95 billion in assets. Comcast revenue is $84 billion. Disney's is $55 billion. If Comcast really wants Fox they have the ability to outbid Disney.

Disney is bigger in terms of market cap ($158.5B to $147B) and Comcast will be in a very precarious situation in regards to its long term debt if it's bid is accepted ($170B in debt and a rating drop in a time of rising rates). Iger may lose, but it won't be due to a lack of ability.

Of the two evils here, Disney is the lesser one.

I dunno, I kind of want Comcast to get the Fox properties now. I still like having two separate Marvel franchises with a distinct style to each one, and I think some of these Fox properties would be a good cultural fit with Comcast rather than Disney. Whichever company can make the Fantastic Four work deserves a Nobel Prize.

Comcast on the other hand is pure, concentrated evil distilled from the anus of Satan himself. Disney can do "hands off" with the Fox properties and let them have that be their more mature and R-Rated division without mixing their franchises together.

What has Comcast done to show they could handle the X-Men or Fantastic Four better than Marvel?

Now, the ball’s back in Comcast’s court.

“We believe another counteroffer from Comcast for Fox is likely,” wrote UBS analyst John Hodulik, in a sentiment that’s echoed by other media watchers. Indeed, Fox’s shares closed at $48.08 a share today, and continued rising in after-hours trading, suggesting investors expected the bids to top Disney’s current offer of $38 a share.

Wall Street Betting On Comcast To Counter Disney’s Offer For Fox

This isn't done deal yet. Bad journalist from all these websites reporting it so. The FOX board accepted the offer but the FOX shareholders haven't voted on it. Which is July 10th. Comcast and still counter bid.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention this.

I think everyone assumes Comcast will make a bid but it hasn't yet which I think is odd. I guess they are waiting until the last minute to pull the trigger on trying to once again one up Disney.

They're like a ****ing eBay seller they were never gonna give it to Comcast.

Go Disney, I guess. At least everyone who is just in it for a joined Marvel universe is going to be happy regardless of how much it might wreck everything else.

The after credits scene for Avengers 4 will sure be interesting.

I hope next year they will end the rotting corpse that is on Fox called The Simpsons, that show is dead to me since 2001.

I was honestly kind of hoping Disney wouldn't be allowed to buy it. The only reason I'd really care about this happening is so the unaltered cuts of the original Star Wars trilogy could be released, but that doesn't sound like it's going to happen regardless.

If Disney buys Fox, that means they'll own every major superhero character outside of DC (who isn't much of a threat at the moment.) Less competition = lesser quality movies.

On the other hand, It could usher in a new age of original fiction to combat the Disney franchise machine. That'd be a welcome change.
