Superman Returns the END is near.....

Consider 2007 the means for most of you guys to break away from these boards.

SR was definately a reason to come during the production/hype process of the film...... but when its done, I think its best to just avoid the boards.

You dont wana turn into one of those messageboard losers who has membership on multiple boards and posts regularly everyday, even during hiatuses.
......And if you think you are one, this is your chance to break free.

I'll miss all the manips, captions, and cool discussions that went on for SR. I've followed the movie since day one, joined the Hype to be apart of it and had a great time. But never say dammit! We have a whole long way to go till the sequel but that doesn't mean the ideas can stop, for sure i'll be here all the way, and i really can't wait. "I'm always around." :supes:

2007 isn't really that far off when you think about it. There will be a year, then wheels will start turning again. 6 months after that, casting and preprod. will slowly start coming in. Hell 6 months after than, filming will nearly be under way for a 2007 summer release. Really, it's only about 18 months until more superman news will start coming in.

the thing is, superman is the last of the "big" hero to get their movie since the hype started. when it did it was all xmen, spiderman, batman, hulk, fantastic four, daredevil, and while everyone of those heros got their **** together, one movie always went on and on, the rumors camer and went, but nothing ever official-Superman. And the fact is, the movie coming out is kinda like the closing of one chapter really; cause there will be no more origin movies of the big heros too look forward to, well only have the sequels. And that, is what makes it sad.I have a very active lifeoutside of this, andsi got to tell ya the other day when i sat down and went "wow, its been a full year since batman begins came out" it had some kind of profound effect really. i dunno what it was; but i know for a fact i dont want to have that same feeling a year from this wednesday.and yes, 2007 will suck for this board; spiderman 3 is coming out and thats the biggest superhero franchise around right now and is what 75% of the posters at the hype are here for; and the batforums will be active again. But having been through both batman and superman production extremely closely, ill say its been fun, but the feeling you get at the endwhen it all dies really isnt worth it, no matter how insane the movie is, cause when the buzz dies down, and the fall comes in, and after the dvd is out, theres nothing left to do, and all the friend we have made here will be gone. the bat forums were very lonely last august, and i really really really dont wanna be around when that happens to the superman forums, god knows weve lost tons of great posters already

Superman is the last of the big heros to get a movie???

I love how you leave Wonder Woman and Captain America out of the category of "big" yet include Daredevil.

sorry, but their not big. captain america isnt happening for atleast 5 years. wonder woman might make it 2008 but it isnt a "big"hero; when the hype got popular, daredevil, hulk league of extraordinary gentlemen, where all on the verge of breaking out due to spideys success. and cause spidey was so successful, EVERYBODY at this forum wondered how big a superman movie would be, if spiderman could that much, and to have a question that ive wondered daily for four years finally answered, makes superman imo, the last big hero to get a movie.

Captain America is definitely in the Trinity of Marvel...and Wonder Woman is one of the most recognizable comic book names on earth...yet somehow you just placed LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN ahead of them both?????

Captain America yes...

Wonder Woman...nah. We'll see if that movie even comes together anyways.

I have a feeling we'll see the sequel to Batman Begins before WW at the rate its going :down

I'll have to agree with you there. Somehow I cant see all our regulars in this forum change it up into a hype estrogen-fest for WW.

It wont come close to the hype building up to Superman Returns.

and then we got Pirates 2 next weekend to worry about and we don't have to wait another 3 years for a sequal to that.

I think Wonder Woman wil surprise a lot of people.
I'm thinking it'll have really strong word of mouth.

Dude. We dont even know anything yet. Whedons script for it could be the equivalent of Burtons for Superman.....

wonder woman? with Joss whendon???

did you forget about serenity all they did and that movie sank like the titanic.

Ya Whedon isnt the best choice for this, I dont think he'll last. The studio didnt seem pleased with the first script he submitted and got him to rework it.

Hopefully someone else steps up.

Sleeper hit.
And Serenity didn't do so bad considering all it had going against it. But Serenity is irrelevant to WWs performance. Noone's going to say "Let's not see Wonder Woman - it was directed by the guy who did Serenity"

All I can say is WW's only hope to sell is to have a reallly hot female lead.

*Cough* Taylor Cole *Cough*

no one would go see wonder woman period , its a female Super hero and Female Action heroines don't do well regardless of who it is.

The only two female heroines i know of is ripley and Sarah conner

Whedon is actually a good writer. He wrote Toy Story, which is darn tootin' good.
As a director, yeah, he's still a little small screen for big screen. But Serenity was still a really good first effort.
Wonder Woman just has a lot of built in advantages, is all.

I think some guys would go but feel really embarassed about going.

I think we'll see The Flash come out before WW hopefully, Flash has the potential to generate alot of revenue.....the SFX for it should be amazing.

What about Buffy, which Whedon also wrote? SHe's pretty much a super-hero.

For television, but Hulk has a point about the show only having a selected fanbase (like Smallville does.....in fact prolly the same fanbase) but not mass appeal.

That doesnt translate well into a motion picture..

Like I said, WW's only chance to score is to have a really hot unknown actress Taylor Cole......with an established mainstream male lead actor for Steve Trevor...like Brad Pitt.

And then for the fans of the old show, make Lynda Carter into Hippolyta (since Lynda and Taylor look so much alike) and that would have some potential.

I think if they go fairly violent, like a Xena sorta vibe, they'll do okay.
Fanboys don't shy away from strong female characters like they used to, a fact Whedon is at least partially responsible for.
And actually, I had some incredibly hot co-workers ask to read issue 1 of the new WW series. They had a conciousness of the character and enjoyed it. And if you've read issue 1 of the new series you know how amazing that is.
