The Expendables 3

That's all very surprising to say the least. While Harrison Ford has had fairly active roles over his career, I've never seen him really as an action hero like Stallone, Arnold, Willis, Snipes, etc. Still, not going to complain if he makes an appearence in this. He'll be in the next Star Wars film afterall. It's too bad about Willis too. I've heard mixed things about him off the camera over the years but it's hard to tell the truth from exaggeration and from one time events.

but Sly and Bruce are friends. why?????? it took over 20 years for Sly,Arnie and Bruce to start hanging out with cigars.

Indiana Jones is as much an iconic action hero as anything Arnie, Bruce and Sly have played. Ford may have done many more thrillers and dramas than the other three but that's because he's simply more capable of handling those roles. But Indy and Solo? Those tops McClane, Terminator and Rambo for many moviegovers.

I probably should have said "action star" instead.

Yes, he's done action roles but that is not the same thing as being known as an action star. The ones I listed are all primarily known for being the rough and tumble kind of action star. Ford is for lack of a better word, the "refined" kind of action star. Kind of like Sean Connery is. More brains than brawn in fights although it's hardly a slight to anyone on either side of the divide.

Ford is a versatile actor which is why I never saw him in that light. There are plenty of people who have done action movies you wouldn't call them stars for being in an action movie either. Would you say someone like Shia LeBeouf is an action star anywhere near these guys? He's done plenty of action movies. Ford can straddle many genres because he's a good actor and that was my point.

Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones and Han Solo. Your point is invalid.

IMO Bruce Willis is just as good of an actor as Harrison Ford when he steps outside of the standard-issue action hero stuff.

Willis has done a LOT of phoned in "performances", but so has Ford.

Two iconic roles are hardly sufficient to justify it. Throw in Blade Runner and it's three. I can add more myself but when you take the bulk of his movie roles, he doesn't do as much action as he does drama, thrillers or other less active ones.

I think you're splitting hairs...

I post an opinion and suddenly it's sacrilege to suggest Harrison Ford is not primarily an action star. It's almost as if I called him some hack actor...

When I think of my favorite action heroes, Harrison Ford is definitely on that list. Not just for Indiana Jones and star wars, but also blade runner, the fugitive, air force one, patriot games, clear and present danger just to name a few. I understand the opposite thinking though. I can of look at him like i look at clint eastwood. Dirty harry and the dollars trilogy alone would earn him a spot, but his range is expanded big time.

I'm actually interested to see how Ford in this movie & I can imagine the one-liners they'll cookup.

All they need is Danny Glover now to give his famous "I'm getting too old for this ****" line and they've got it made.

I love Harrison Ford, but I agree with Teelie. I never really thought of Ford as the same type of action hero. Having said that, he has played two of the most iconic (and my favorite ) roles in movie history.

Sad to see Willis go, but Ford is a great addition. Crazy to hear about this falling out, I thought Sly and Bruce were close.

Looper was Willis' rare attempts of actually 'trying'. Along with Moonrise Kingdom.

Let's be honest. They offered Ford a huge paycheck for minimal screen time. I'm guessing he's playing some government agent like Willis and only appear in the beginning and end.

"LET ME GET THIS CLEAR RR[phlegm]RRROSS! YOU WORK FOR ME DAMMIT!"

Harrison Ford being in it Is a shock. And a pleasent shock. Now confirm wesley Snips and I
will have to go pay to see this In theatres,

Ford is my favorite actor. His line-up ("42", "Ender's Game", "Paranoia", "Anchorman 2", "Star Wars", this, "Black Hats") is exciting as all hell. I sat through "Random Hearts" for this guy. And I was going to see "Expendables 3" anyway. It's just good to see him trying new things.

As for Willis...it seems like his m.o. since "The Whole Nine Yards" is to have less and less dialogue, while starring alongside a more talkative sidekick. Throw in a side-glance, a one-liner, and you've got every Willis performance in the past 10+ years, "Looper" excluded.

Ah man, I would love for Clint to be in this.

Even for a second.

Now I really hope Ford has a speech similar to the "Little. Effing. Doggie treats." one Willis had in the first. Fingers must be pointed.
