Lionsgate has announced that the American remake of the Thai horror film The Eye will be released in theaters on December 21, 2007. The film stars Jessica Alba and directed by both David Moreau and Xavier Palud. In the film, a blind girl gets a cornea transplant so that she would be able to see again. However, she got more than what she bargained for when she realized she could even see ghosts. And some of these ghosts are down right unfriendly. So she embarks on a journey to find the origins of her cornea and to reveal the history of the previous dead owner

well i'm glad too see more involement is going on with this movie. Cause it was about 3 or 4 months since we said heard anything.I guess this is the movie she's going to shoot right after FF2 wraps in end of January.

The eye was an Hong Kong production, nothing to do with the Thai. Can't lionsgate even get that right?

Well Lionsgate picked this film up from Paramount who was just gonna drop it cause it sat at there company for a few years and nothing ever happen with it.

I'll watch the real eye movie sometime. I try to stay away from remakes now. That and Alba can't act so it will be a bore fest.

Yeah, it wasn't really anything to ride home about. But what it did show is that the horror genre in HK wasn't completely dead and buried and that HK did have some above average directors still around.

Only because the original was pretty average by horror standards.
Not to mention the fact that Hollywood will bastardize it in some way thus probably making it even worse.

Add Alba to the mix and I'm not optimistic.

The only pro is that I think I heard Cruise is producing it. And he also produced Narc which was ****ing great, so hopefully he knows something I don't.

I rented Tokyo Drift with the lowest expectations and loved it.

But since you made a thread about the movie, I'm sure you expected people to comment on it. People have different opinions. You can't just ask for the positive ones and silence the negative.
What's the point of asking what everyone thinks if all you want to hear is:

"OMG This looks great!"
