The Fashion of Wakanda needs to be fixed!

Yeah, you think it's a bit nitpicky BECAUSE you have no cultural ties to any african nation. Care to ask an African his opinion?...

...and people wonder why is important to have a black person in the writing room when hollywood decide to tell a "black story"...:hmm
it's a fictional african country and it's not uncommon for real life african dignitaries to wear either suits or cultural garb so yes it is nitpicky to object to Wakanda use of suits when dealing with the outside world of which it is only now establishing a relationship

Also I don't think having a black writer in the room during civil war would have guaranteed african garb at the UN, I'm black and ambivalent to the subject

It was definitely fixed :) if anything the fashion was my favourite part of the movie. I just couldn't believe my eyes. That and the high def shots of Africa were the two things I wanted most and I got them

The outfit were amazing! I’ve always criticized comic book movies for toning down the outfits of the characters for “Realism”, with some of the more fun looking characters in everyday clothing, while fading the colors as well. The outfits in this movie are so vibrant and colorful. I love it! I’m seriously thinking of cosplay ideas haha.

What Do You Guys Think of The Design ?

Seriously, these are very informative and educational.

Great discussion with the costume designer. I love what she said about not sexualizing the Dora Milaje. She knows little girls will be cosplaying as them and didn't want young pre teens girls looking like strippers at comic con.

At first, I couldn't believe this statement, but then I looked at the time stamp and understood. As an African American, I've been curious about how Africans have felt about the film because your culture was on display and admittedly, most films get it all wrong.

But I've got to say, I want to find the designer of the suggested fashions for men and women at the beginning of this thread. My mouth dropped open, those fashions were ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!

Definitely don't want to distract from the actual strippers at comic con. Geez, when the hell did that start happening?

Oh my Pink friend, we your hetero brothers have been "pornofying" the fanboy/girls world for over a good decade now. Once porn actors and nude models saw a demographic they could exploit via an online presence well, the die was cast.

Damn straight folks, forcing their sinful lifestyle on the rest of us normal people. :argh:

I just had a fantastical thought. I know that Ryan Coogler massaged the Black Panther Comics story, but could it be argued that Wakanda created the suit. Here me out. When T'Challa asked Shuri about the wonderful shoes she had created instead of his sandals, he asked her what they are called. She said, "Sneakers." Could Ryan Coogler have been sending a veiled message. If Wakanda was advanced enough to create the sneaker and in the Western World, everybody wore sneakers, right? Why not many things the Westerners took as their own discoveries.

As you have said. The Wakandans were well traveled. If the Museum could have spears in their museums and Shuri created sneakers that are very popular in Western culture, then why not the suit!!!

Either you will laugh me off this page or you might say, "Ummmmmm, I had not thought of that."

What are you even talking about? What suit? The suit from where? The BP suit? We know the suit he wears is from Wakanda. And the sneakers thing is supposed to be a joke about Shuri not being familiar with the outside world. It's not that Wakanda was the origin of the sneaker but that she thought of the same name with the same function being cutoff from outside influences.

Exactly. It was just her version of a play on words. Sneakers= "walking quietly"..."without sound"...

... Now, this is some example of African clothes design I think could fit well in Wakanda...

A lot of these were actually in the movie in some form or fashion. Not these exact shirts per se, but a lot of the background folks in the city had some sort of similar getup.
