The Format War

What is that? lol.

It's like the fifth or sixth variation of Gamer Rejects.

Gamer Rejects started because back when the Games forum was far more active thanks to posters such as WHF, DRT, Blas, Electro, cookiva, myself, THWIP, Zenien, and others. However, it was rarely paid attention to and posters there were pretty much given free reign to do just about anything.

Well, the Mods decided to impose some order at least and a lot of the regulars didn't like that and because of miscommunication and misunderstandings that really couldn't be avoided, some of the regular posters like WHF, THWIP, and DRT waged war on the Mods to take back what they saw as their forum. Targeting Matt and Morg in particular. Posters like Zenien didn't wage war like some, but openly and fully supported the GR. Posters like Blas, WeeZite, and Electro while not being insulting or waging war supported them as well. There were posters like myself who were neutral who were sympathetic to both sides. And then there was pretty much everyone else who were getting pissed off because the war between the GR and the Mods were really ruining the place. Eventually the war ended when the Mods permabanned most of the GR. I, thanks to my neutrality, ended up getting promoted to Modship and took over the Games Forum after the Great War.

After the war ended, WeeZite founded Gamer Rejects, a place for the GR and other regular Games posters can post with no interference from the tyranical mods of Superhero Hype. However, ProBoards shut it down on account of the stupid crap we said. So Gamer Rejects v2 was set up. However, ProBoards is a rather limited forum system so Weez decided to set up a legitimate site and hence Gamer Rejects 3.0 was formed. However, it wasn't active enough to warrant paying for it so it eventually expired and we moved back to ProBoards with the fourth version of Gamer Rejects. ProBoards shut that one down for the same reason the original Gamer Rejects was shut down. So then we formed the Cesar Romero Fan Club, named after Erik's insistence that Cesar Romero's Joker was more faithful. However, we got bored with it and formed Titanium Groceries.

That's pretty deep man, the great wars of Superhero Gaming Section Hype Past. lol. I'll have to check it out that forum.

Two Classic Romantic Comedies Coming to Blu-ray
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Steve Martin romantic comedy 'Roxanne' and the Nicolas Cage romantic comedy 'It Could Happen to You' to Blu-ray on May 5th. Both films will be presented in 1080p AVC video accompanied by 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks.

Worldwide Blu-ray Sales On Pace for 100M Units in 2009
In a new report from Futuresource Consulting, the research firm is now saying that the Blu-ray format is currently on pace to sell 100 million units this year worldwide. The majority of those sales would still occur in the US, which is predicted to represent 80% of total disc sales. The second largest buyer is said to be the UK, which represent 40% of Western Europe in Blu-ray units sold.

Normally, I would not comment on analysis of this nature, but being that the analysis covers current year projections (rather than 3-5 years from now), I feel it holds more merit. As always, only time will tell.

In 2008, approximately 36 million units were sold of Blu-ray titles, an increase of over 300% from the previous year. Additionally, because of the success of Blu-ray in the US, the format has moved from the "early adopter" phase to "early majority", with sales expected to dramatically increase throughout the year.

Just bought Wall-E,and Hellboy 2.Loving how both films look so crisp.Never noticed the difference in Blu Ray until one day I walked into Blockbuster.I saw Transformers on the screen.Ever since then I have been wanting one.Thank god for Circuit City closing:)Picked up the last one for 200.I couldn't be happier.

Awesome. You definitely mentioned some demo worthy discs in that paragraph. If you need any advice or information feel free to ask or post your thoughts here you are amongst friends. :)

Hey, a fellow Floridian joining the ranks. Cool. :woot: As Red stated, this thread is a great place to chat about Blu-ray and ask questions if need be. Both the discs you mentioned are reference and you'll be in awe of all the other reference quality discs you can get at the moment. Hope you enjoy the Blu.

Title: Batman (IMDb)
Starring: Michael Keaton
Released: 5th May 2009
SRP: $34.99

Further Details:
Warner Home Video has provided us with early details on a Blu-ray release of Batman which stars Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. The 20th Anniversary edition will be available to own from the 5th May, and should retail at around $34.99. We have no word on the extras included on the disc (other than a digital copy of the film) I'm afraid, although the advertisement attached below confirms that a 50-page bonus book will be included. This book will include excerpts from the official film book, script pages, and DC's comic book adaptation. We've attached an advertisement containing the package artwork below:

I wasn't planning on getting the Bat movies on Blu Ray, but I may have to buy that:D

So far anything Pixar has put out on Blu has been reference material, and I'm sure the same will be for A Bug's Life and Monsters, INC

I wouldn't recommend Total Recall as a blind buy maybe you should rent it or borrow it from someone first. Most of Lionsgates first releases were awful. Everything usually is at least a slight upgrade from the DVD and Total Recall's Blu-ray reviews didn't get high marks. I would say for now focus your money on building up your Pixar collection if thats your cup of tea because you won't be disappointed with those at all.

And just FYI you can get Cars and The Pixar Collection on Amazon.com right now for $19.99 each or maybe you can check out a local Circuit City since they are liquidating their stuff.

To quote a poster over at DVDTalk, avoid the Total Recall BD like the plauge.

Well it also all depends on what you personally think so if you can view something with your own eyes. I know alot of people gave Predator low marks as well but I thought it looked and sounded good for its age and I was happy with the presentation.

I've been very tempted to pick up some of those $10 BDs from Walmart, but noticed they're all the crappy Lionsgate titles, so I've continued holding out for a better (read: worthy) release of the movies to get instead.

Stargate looks ok, but not great. Pretty much the only one worth getting.

So get this, TVshowsondvd.com is saying that sources are telling them that Fox is releasing 24 - The Complete 7th Season on DVD and Blu-ray on May 19th.

...that's the day after the Season 7 finale airs on TV...

While that'd be awesome to see TV seasons released that soon after they're finish airing on TV, take that with a grain of salt until it's confirmed or not.

I believe this is another group of Paramount movies that are coming to Blu-ray on May 19th. This would give Paramount 19 (counting boxsets and TV shows as 1 release so technically more) Blu-ray releases for May alone so far.

3 Days of Condor
Changing Lanes
Enemy at the Gates
The Machinist
Paycheck

That would be awesome if true, I'd pick it up as I wasn't able to get into the new season and I'd hate to wait till the winter to get my hands on this.

I know I will be picking up The Machinist, and the Two Watchmen Blu Rays when they come out
