John Landis: American Werewolf "Comes out on Blu-ray This Summer"
'An American Werewolf in London' is being released on Blu-ray this summer. This is what John Landis told horror film site Bloody-Disgusting when they contacted Landis for his reaction on the upcoming remake of the famous 1980s horror movie. In Landis's own words, the negative has been digitally cleaned up and it looks "amazing."

Landis said: "My film comes out on Blu-ray this summer and looks amazing. I was afraid the digital cleaning of the negative would result in too clear a picture and hurt Rick Baker's make-up, when in fact the incredibly crisp detail actually makes Rick stuff look even better!"

B-D also asked Landis if there were any updates on a possible Blu-ray release of "Thriller" and he tells is that, "Despite Michael's tragic death, the Thriller lawsuit continues." Back in January, Landis had sued Michael Jackson, asking for unpaid profits for the "Thriller" video and making-of documentary.

Great, been looking forward to this for quite a while. Last I heard, "Beware The Moon", a fan-made documentary that covers pretty much everything will be included as well.

Yep me too. One of if not the best werewolf movie ever made...which isn't a hard title to achieve though IMO. :oldrazz:

Oh, absolutely. I love The Wolfman, kinda like The Howling, but AWIL is the best, bar none. Which makes it all the more of a travesty there remaking it...

The Wolfman remake looks quite promising I am looking forward to that. Benicio Del Toro was a top notch choice. Werewolf movies usually suck though in my opinion I hate that Underworld crap. The Howling was really good I would prolly pick that up if it were released.

And a remake gets announced every other day so I wouldn't worry yet. Half of them never see the light of day. Even the gentleman in your avatar was supposed to get one but that got put right in development hell. Don't believe it until you see it.

No word yet on the Ghostbusters 2 front, maybe they are waiting for when the new movie they are planning comes out.

Damn, I just bought Ghostbusters yesterday as a blind buy, never watching it before and I ended up loving it. I demand to have the sequel :cmad:

would they wait that long? I can see it being released when the new film comes out on BR

You never have seen Ghostbuster's till you blind bought it on Blu-ray! :wow: I thought everyone has seen it. lol. That's cool that you liked it, but the sequel is definitely not as good as the first.

Who knows, these studio's do odd things. I mean, I'm surprised they didn't release the second one before the first. lol.

I thought that this would be interesting to you guys:

Viacom's Paramount Pictures studio wants to merge its home entertainment division with a rival and is in advanced talks to do so with Sony Pictures and News Corp's Fox, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.

The move, which could herald a wave of consolidation in Hollywood, comes as major studios try to cut back on expenses while grappling with a DVD sales slump and the emergence of Internet media rivals.

Paramount, which backed summer blockbuster 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen', initiated the merger discussions, the newspaper cited several people familiar with the situation as saying.

Discussions have centered on combining DVD production, distribution and back-office functions, the Financial Times reported.

The Financial Times reported it was unclear which of the two studios will end up striking a deal with Paramount.

Paramount, Viacom ( VIA - news - people ), and Sony ( SNE - news - people ) were not immediately available for comment. A News Corp spokeswoman declined to comment.

Shares in Viacom held steady in after-hours trade after closing the regular session down 3 percent at $22.70. News Corp stock was also flat in extended trade, after it ended the regular session down 1.7 percent at $9.11.

It was $20 so I was like even if I didn't like it, I would only be out a few bucks.

Paramount is initiating merger talks even with Transformers breaking records? Wow.

It's all about the bottom line Red. Paramount wants to reduce costs considering the home entertainment department isn't was it once was I guess.

Yeah but still profit is profit. They have a movie that will potentially hit $750 million worldwide. This would be like hearing this with WB right when The Dark Knight is kicking ass at the box office. But I guess it must be really bad if they don't think Transformers will bounce them back.

It's expected that there are going to be a lot of media consolodations in the upcoming months like Time Warner and NBC Universal has been long rumored. Lion's Gate and MGM have been rumored to be going up for sale soon. Although, I am surprised to hear about Paramount doing it at all. I expected Universal to be the first one to go.

Well, to be honest, that's probably the BEST time to compromise a deal.

"Hey, Sony, want a piece of this cash-in?"

Well Lionsgate isn't surprising. The Spirit and The Punisher were 2 of the biggest bombs last year. Only think thats giving them a pulse is the Saw franchise and that well is beginning to dry up. And those Tyler Perry movies (Which I have no idea how those are so successful.)

The Tyler Perry movies aren't that bad, they target a specific market and are successful in that market so I'd say it's a good business deal for the studio.

Haha yeah I know I just know that for me personally I pretty much always sit through any movie. 10 minutes into a Tyler Perry movie my mom rented and I just left the room.

lol...well, I usually only like the parts where he plays the old lady, but the other stuff tends to be overly dramatic. I usually have only watched his movies if they were on TV and someone else is watching them...but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch them. lol.

So, I'm downsizing my HD DVD collection. I have a sale pending for one of my HD-A2's and 25 movies. lol. I've also replaced some of my HD DVD's with the Blu-ray versions. Luckily, I've been buying from people on Highdefdigest and bluray.com so it's come out pretty cheap. I'll be all Blu-ray soon I guess. lol.

Welcome to the darkside. :cmad: While you are turning blu I am slowly approaching the 200 Blu-ray's owned mark. :cmad:

lol...yes the DARKSIDE!!!! I have joined the sith army...noooooooo!

But seriously, how many Blu-ray's do you have so far? I think we will have a race. :p

But yeah, I was thinking since everything is Blu-ray and will continue to be Blu, I'd just go ahead and switch everything over. I just wish some of the HD DVD's I had would be on Blu-ray so I wouldn't have to wait but what can a guy do.
