Ray Charles Miss Aretha Franklin John Lee Hooker are very greatful to the Blues Brothers.

Not to take anything from EMF.:ninja:

Greatful how? For covering their tunes?? Because they did a lot of cover tunes. LOL :woot:

Don't get me wrong. I found them funny and entertaining. But they were just a comedy schitck in my mind. Sure...they had real musicians backing them up. But you might as well throw in Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time" and "Put your lips on Me". :wow:

Yo Knight....what you think about New Jack Swing???

John Landis said they Blues Brothers turned a new generation on to these old artists thus causing new music from them. Remember in the 80's Ray and Miss Franklin had new music. As well as The Godfather...

Ah Teddy's footnote in the Soul music history. I love the 90's New Jack era. Good time:yay:

No doubt that they did. I mean when you cover songs like "Soul Man" and you have James and Aretha in your movie, that's automatic exposure. But I can't equate that to them being a musical talent on par with EWF.
That's all I'm saying. I give 'em their props.....just not a whole bunch of "props". LOL :cwink:

Yo Knight.......you hip to "Foster / McElroy" as producers back in the 80's?? They worked with Timex Social Club, Tony Toni Tone, Envogue. They actually created Envogue!! Those dudes were tight. Had a nice run.....

Oh the naughty thoughts I had of En Vogue.

Yo knight,,,, you got some serious music knowledge. I don't know a lot of cats who can bring it like you. Big props!

They were Rick's version of "Vanity 6". But these could actually sing!!

They may not had much "singing" talent but damn they were hot back in the day.

But more singing talent than Vanity or Apollonia six. "My House" was pretty decent.

[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, san-serif]Her mother is White and her father is Black. She became the lead singer of the group Vanity 6 in 1982. Later she recorded two more albums on her own and then was featured in movies such as The Last Dragon, Action Jackson, and 52 Pickup. She has given up the name Vanity and is now a Christian evangelist. She is currently writing an autobiograpy entitled Blame it on Vanity.

Now this was one piece of prime meat back in the 80's
