I know I'll probably get ripped on for mentioning white guys, but Jeff Buckley had a whole lotta soul. So does Chris Cornell.

That is all.

Why would you get ripped for that...there are a lot of white soul singers out there.

Who??

Jeff Buckley (November 17, 1966 – May 29, 1997), born Jeffrey Scott Buckley and raised as Scottie Moorhead, was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist.
Known for his vocal range, Buckley was considered by critics to be one of the most promising artists of his generation after the release of his 1994 debut album Grace. However, at the height of his popularity, Buckley drowned during an evening swim in 1997. His work and style continue to be highly regarded by critics and fellow musicians.

Go listen to "I Am the Highway" by Audioslave, and then testify about Cornell's soul or lack thereof. And I never said that he was a soul singer, just that he has a great voice and has done some soul influenced songs. Jeff Buckley however has done a lot of soul music and jazz and r&b .

Didn't some rock group cover Smooth Criminal, too?? Ant Farm???
Alien Ant Farm, yeah. Except, they were a nu-metal band, and they sucked.

We need a soul simulator (like the boxing simulator from Rocky 27) so we could pit Cornell against James Brown to see how he measures up. Of course he won't win, but we could get an accurate measurement.:woot:

Edit. Memphis I'm at work so I usually can't do research but when I get home, I'll get on those guys.
