Plot Summary: Based on the novel by Joseph Kanon, "The Good German" takes place in the ruins of post-WWII Berlin, where U.S. Army war correspondent Jake Geismar (George Clooney) becomes embroiled with Lena Brandt (Cate Blanchett), a former lover whose missing husband is the object of a manhunt by both the American and Russian armies. Intrigue mounts as Jake tries to uncover the secrets Lena may be hiding in her desperation to get herself and her husband out of Berlin. Tully (Tobey Maguire), a soldier in the American army motor pool assigned to drive Jake around Berlin, has black market connections that may be Lena's way out -- or lead them all into even darker territory.

Looking forward to this...I love the poster.

Old man pulled a Mike Tyson on George.

Plot sounds interesting enough and I find Tobey to be a great actor, good to see that he's getting more movies out between and during Spider-Man.

Soderbergh bores me to be honest but this premise seems interesting and Clooney certainly likes a challenge

Looks absolutely brilliant IMO,evokes the atmosphere of the Third Man

OOOOOH I like.
Add this one to the increasing list of movies to see this fall/winter.

I HATE the title... the implication is that every other German is "bad".

Spidey was kickin' Batman's ass!!

I'm all about this flick.
Tobey looks good and with this r-rating I'm hoping for some good sex coming from Spidey. :woot: Naked Spidey.

Anyway, this film looks so beautifully done and Cate is going to blow it out of the water again, the women is on point all the time.

I think its just exploiting typical post war paranoia, such as the generalization that all Germans were Nazis, just like the paranoia now that all Muslims and/or Arabs are terrorists.

Love the old Hollywood feel... Seeing Maguire play a dark character will be good preparation for Spidey 3.

Agreed and ya need to clear your PM's:woot:

Looks great. Reminds me of The Third Man.

Wow that looks... amazing... question though:
are war correspondents trained as regular soldiers or are they just put in a uniform?

It looks fantastic. I'm continuously amazed at how far Clooney has progressed as an actor.
