The Gray Man (Gosling, Evans, Russos)

Wow this sounds like it has so much potential. Gosling and Evans being in a movie together was enough to sell me alone, but then you add in the Russos, Netflix and Marcus and McFeely writing the script and I don't see how this doesn't turn out to be great. Granted, if that rumored $200M budget is true than it sounds like this is going to be a film with a lot spectacle and big budget action that it probably better seen on the biggest screen possible and you just won't be able recapture that experience at home which sucks IMO, because this definitely sounds like something worth seeing in the biggest and loudest theater screen possible.

I am sure Netflix will do a theatrical run for it, too. If there are theaters left to run it on.

I hope so, but with the way things are looking like right now I am very pessimistic about it to be honest. Despite how some might have felt about the quality of Extraction or 6 Underground I really wish I had seen both of those films on the big screen as they were meant to be seen.

It's nice to see Hollywood practicing what they preach by trying to start a new franchise with such diverse leads.

They keep saying how they have to do better when accepting their awards and this would have been a good opportunity for them to do it.

Eva Mendez making Gosling work! Two potential franchise after another. Goddamn.

The CIA is predominantly white. I think the casting makes sense and I haven't read the book but it sounds like it plays a bit on the whole "white male power complex / govt corruption" angle.

I do hope the film has some good roles for POC.

After Old Guard, Extraction, and 6 Underground, I hope this looks and feels a little different from the rest.

Advertising aside, Old Guard doesn't look or feel anything like 6 Underground.

Sounds interesting. I'm glad to see they are doing a spy thriller.

Given Covid, I’m somewhat concerned about the massive $200 mill budget on this sort of project. I think more intimate smaller scale projects should be done for now

I agree but as far as Netflix is concerned, they aren't worried about ticket sales.

If they can reliably make the money back, movies should cost as much as they want to.

Big “if”.
