The Gray Man (Gosling, Evans, Russos)

Advertising aside, Old Guard doesn't look or feel anything like 6 Underground.
A team of mercenaries that work behind the scenes to take matters into their own hands when no one else will. Their leader is focused on carrying out the mission while the new recruit questions and challenges their way of working.

You are comparing very basic plot summaries. The pacing, tone, aesthetics, characterizations--i.e. the "look" and "feel"--of these films are drastically different.

And, frankly, similarities in genre movies has nothing to do with Netflix specifically. You'll find the same kind of familiarity, tropes, and redundancies in the multiplex, many times over. It's to The Old Guard's credit that it actually does have a distinct vibe and thoughtfulness that does distinguish it from many films in a similar vein.

Underground is a bad trip of a mix of drugs, Old Guard is at least serious.

Looking forward to this one, from material to directors to cast to writer's, all the ingredients are there for something special that could join Bond, Mission Impossible and Bourne in the espionage movie ranks.

2:34pm - Collider Presents: A New Chapter with Directors Joe and Anthony Russo

Collider is hosting an exclusive conversation with Anthony and Joe Russo where they will speak at length about the many projects they’re working on at their production company AGBO, including Cherry with Tom Holland, their next directorial effort The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, the Extraction sequel, and a lot more

This is one of my most anticipated films of 2022 (At least I think it will come out by then).

That's just too much hotness for one movie, but in all seriousness this is shaping up to have a great ensemble cast. I love seeing Wagner Moura in there, especially after how fantastic he was on those first two seasons of Narcos.

I'm hoping Jessica Henwick is an Assassin in this, she kicked ass in Iron Fist and was the highlight of the show.

The Gray Man: Chris Evans’ Villain Role Teased

Recently on the Lights Camera Barstool podcast, the Russo Brothers talked briefly about their upcoming project, and how it is a “modern interpretation of a spy thriller” inspired by the Bond franchise. They also touted The Gray Man as “a big pop culture film infused with modern thematics and politics.” Joe Russo also spoke specifically about the role Chris Evans will play as a villain. When asked jokingly if Evans will wear a cable knit sweater in The Gray Man à la his character in Knives Out, Joe had this to say:

Yeah exactly - no he’s going to wear some crazy **** in this one. He’s a really unique character, and this is Evans as a villain so it’s a really interesting character and I think he’s going to get to flex quite a bit in this role.

I didn’t know Evans was a villain in this. Color me intrigued.

The cast is fantastic and Evans getting to play a villain after years of being Captain America should be interesting.

I like how between this and Knives Out, and maybe being the dentist in Little Pet Shop of Horrors, and originally being cast as the crooked sheriff in The Devil All The Time before dropping out, Evans is following up Cap with a few villainous roles.

I hope Evans is a villain villain in this. Not like in Knives Out, where he was still very charming in the standard Chris Evans way and he was pretending to be nice a majority of his screentime.Wwhich isn't a shot at that movie because I loved it.

I really wanna see Evans play this vile role like Denzel in Training Day (who yeah had a lot of the standard Denzel mannerisms, but still), Cranston in the later seasons of Breaking Bad or even like Hemsworth in Bad Times at El Royale.

Like a complete unrepegnant ******d that we haven't seen him do anytime before really.

Russo Bros are hyping up his villain role, but that could be just marketing and doesn't sway me.

I don't know if this is the movie to do it, given the type of movie we're hearing it is. But I wanna see Evans do that sometime soon

I'd love to see Chris Evans play a truly ruthless villian as well and Alonzo from Training Day is a great comparison IMO even if the characters are nothing alike. I definitely think Evans could pull it off and it would be a very interesting and different kind of role for him than were use to seeing.

You could tell he was loving being a bad boy in Knives Out, so I’d like to see him take a crack at a more openly villainous character.

Peoole don't seem to like 6 Underground
I saw it recently for the first time.I really enjoyed it.

I like a lot of Bay films but 6 Underground was terrible. Probably his worst film to me other than Transformers 2.
