The Gray Man (Gosling, Evans, Russos)

I haven't read the reviews, but I was able to catch a screening last weekend. I enjoyed it a lot. It could've used another 5-10 minutes to flesh out a few of the characters (Ana's/Alfre's/Rege-Jean's specifically), but overall I really dug the movie. It was a blast watching Evans having a ball as the villain. Gosling is also great.

8/10.

Good for you for paying to see it. Based on the reviews, I can wait a week to see it on Netflix.

Well, I've heard enough from people who aren't professional critics who all seemed to enjoy it, so most likely I'll enjoy it too despite the obvious flaws it might have.

I've also enjoyed pretty much all the non MCU stuff the Russo's have done so far including Cherry and even stuff they've produced like the really underrated 21 Bridges.

Reading your guys’ remarks on Civil War is shocking to me, i had no idea people had those kind of problems with it. To date, its my #1 fav MCU film. The story, the action, the pacing, the fan service is all top notch IMO.
Yeah, and for me this isn't a "it's now fun to hate it" situation. I've hated that film since day one.

It’s a great movie. If you’re going to rip apart a superhero film due to people making dumb choices just so the plot can move along, then you probably shouldn’t bother with superhero films, because damn near ALL of them do that.

Wow. From the previous page, Ana De Armas looks incredible with a bit of a weight gain and a bit more age on her face. She looks even better now!
I think it's more likely she did go through some 'procedure' and that's why her face looks a bit different now.

Wow, I was expecting much worse after the reviews. I really like it actually. Its like Winter Soldier blueprint movie with some global trip elements from Civil War. The figures are similair from Winter Soldier with (mild spoiler on who is good or shady)
Gosling (Cap), Armas (Black Widow), Evans (Bucky), Henwick (Agent 13), Thornton (Fury) and Page (Alexander Pierce)
. Even Henry Jackmans score has some Winter Soldier in the final.

Gosling did a lot of workout for that movie, I was really impressed. Set pieces were impressive you can see the money here. The actions was good unless one set piece which was a editing disaster.
The only real issue I have with this movie is the role of Evans. He is introduced as a mad man. But he spend the whole time just ordering his minions. He is never a threat with his actions, he has no special capabilities and cant offer even a physical intimidating appereance.

Also... Hell, Gosling and Evans should take a room here... :hehe:

Hahaha
My man do I have a surprise for you...

Markus and Mcfeely wrote The Grey Man as well

EDIT: I see Stringer beat me to it
Maybe the Russos need a pair of strong screenwriters like Markus and Mcfeely whom were the ones they collaborated with for Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame. Maybe M&M were the TRUE MVPs behind those movies.

I credit Feige more than majority directors or writers. He had a story he wanted to tell they really just don't have to do too much.

and ultimate credit to Stan Lee and the comics because the story is right there, not from scratch like I assume this is.

Watching this now. The dialogue is downright obnoxious, imo.
And now the camera work and editing has decided to raise itself to the dialogue's level.

I swear, the only things differentiating some of these shots and Michael Bay's most ADD-addled work yet in Ambulance, is that Bay's shots have that nice golden hour glow. Well, and the choice of cities. :o

Once again Netflix has done it again…content based on their algorithms. This ain’t a movie - it’s just content
And the Russos have legitimated themselves of mediocre filmmakers if it’s not Marvel.
Netflix really needs some people who know something about storytelling

still gonna see this probably later tonight after I get back from my brother's

Chris Evans really went to town on this movie. He brought the bad guy energy in a big way and looked like he was having a ball.

20 mins into this and wow this dialogue is BAD. Really bad. Badly written and badly delivered. Unbelievable this is the same team behind the best MCU films.

Who's idea was it to let Bill Bob Thorton look like Colonel Sanders in this movie? It was distracting in all of his scenes, honestly.

Chris Evans is playing a watered-down Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (Jim Carrey) from the Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

The movie gets dumber and more fantastical the longer it goes on but it is some entertaining shlock at least. The movie has one foot in the unrealistic world of superheroes and one foot in the real world.

The Gray Man wasn’t as boring as that Chris Pine Amazon thriller whose title escapes me at the moment. It moves pretty fast.

Gosling is decent and Ana de Armas has more here to do than that last Bond movie which is a plus.
