The Gray Man (Gosling, Evans, Russos)

Watched the trailer again. It looks so generic.
Hope it suprises somehow.

Did they only release 1 trailer? Can't remember if that's normal for Netflix

Guess there's no need when they can just plaster it all over the Netflix front page

''You wanna dance'' lol. This looks so dull.

How come every movie the Russos make outside of Cap and Avengers films seem to just not be that good
Basically what @Stringer said.

Some directors are only good within the MCU system of quality control. Peyton Reed had a pretty mediocre career other than the MCU (hasn't done a non MCU film in a while though). I'd argue James Gunn as well. I could also say Joe Johnston going by his post 1999 filmography.

It's like how some athletes are only good if they're playing with a certain type of coach or team culture. Hell, I guess that's just a life thing. You can do the same job at 2 different companies and only thrive at one of the companies that fits you.

But it is shocking that they're able to do one of the best SH movies ever imo in TWS and do a great culmination of 11 years of storytelling...but can't do a basic drama like Cherry or even another spy thriller like this and have it be anything special. At least from the trailers and early reviews

I’d argue that they all at least had some cult classics in there before the MCU (Bring It On, Slither, Jurassic Park III). The Russo’s can’t even claim that lol

[The Russos'] Bourne-esque quick cuts for hand-to-hand combat lack visceral impact.

[The Russos'] occasional riffing on John Wick’s gun-fu provides occasional clarity, but even in their most legible medium and wide shots, there’s no sense of composition to draw the eye, and little by way of lighting and color to accentuate mood (comparing the film’s title to its muddy color grading would almost be too easy).

Gosling, while he spearheads the film’s quippy, self-effacing dialog — oh yes, The Gray Man is particularly Marvel-esque in this regard — is largely left adrift by a script that doesn’t so much as give Six a discernible personality trait, let alone a real objective beyond surviving militarized attack number X, before making his way to Asian or European location number Y in anticipation of the next big sequence.

I liked You, Me, and Dupree haha. I'm like one of 5 people
And I loved their work on Happy Endings.

But even with the other's cult classics, mediocre careers. But still better than Russos had. I'd like them go back to comedy.

The trailer wasnt good at all. Im not suprised by the bad reviews.

Unfortunately not surprised after seeing the trailer and other things I was hearing. Still might check it out in theaters this weekend though.

When it comes to action movies, Netflix usually misses. The only one I’ve liked is Old Guard but even then haven’t rewatched it.

Russos gonna Russo. Neflix is no doubt at fault for giving them hundreds of millions of dollars, unchecked. Make no mistake, they helped produce one of the best films in the last decade but the quality had zip to do with them all to do with the directors. Russos ain't no Daniels, that's for damn sure.

48% RT.

Yikes. This is going to drop quicker than an Amber Heard appeal in court :funny:
