He is great Lex but it felt like yelled too much.
Before Superman was released, I kinda wished we'd get Luthor running for president by the end of the movie.Love Hoult's performance and hope it isn't the last time we see him. I just felt like it was too soon to see his character get arrested. Of course it had to happen, but I kind of wish that Luthor got away with something. Don't get me wrong. I want him to ultimately lose, but I just felt like it should be done over the course of multiple films.
Gunn has said this won't be the last we see of Lex and that he's a major player in the wider DCU.Love Hoult's performance and hope it isn't the last time we see him. I used to misinterpret Lex Luthor and John Byrne's take on Lex Luthor-the version we've seen portrayed in media ever since. I used to think Lex Luthor embraced being evil, or a bad guy, and was conscious of the fact. At least Hackman's Luthor did. Other portrayals, he seems to possibly be in denial. But what I came to understand later on about Luthor was that the CEO version--which I do prefer--wasn't necessarily a bad guy before Superman showed up. It was just when Superman showed up and took Lex's spotlight that got the worst of him. Luthor was jealous and hated everything Superman represented, including the Nietzsche concept. Luthor wanted Superman's powers and reputation.
But John Shea's Luthor already seemed like a bad man before Superman showed up. I believe Luthor also was corrupt before Superman's debut in the 90's animated series as well.
Every take on Luthor is different in their own way. What I want to ask is your opinion on Hoult's Lex Luthor.
Does he really believe he's doing the right thing? Does he really believe Superman is a threat and that he's doing this for humanity? Or is it just an excuse for himself because he envies Superman deep down.
My take is that those are just excuses to take down Superman because Lex is jealous. But I wonder about his line, "Because you are destroying us!"
