Great TPB. Essential for Joker fans.

It's absolutely fantastic. The title pretty much nails it. Doc Ock gave you the rundown on the stories; O'Neil, Adams, Giordano, Sprang, Aparo, Englehart...that's some good stuff. I highly recommend it.

thanks Ock. I'll get my copy this weekend. Damn! It's Tuesday! Come on... hurry up...

it was the first TPB I ever bought :o

It was okay there were a few good stories and a few really bad ones......like Batman teaching a college course. It was funny when he tackled the kid dressed as the red hood though.

This sounds good!
I always wanted to read Joker's First Appearance, and I heard the Joker's five way revenge is excellent.
I should get this.

Yeah, I was pretty sketch about reading it, because it was done in the golden age, but it turned out to be one of my favorite issues. Kane drew him really creepy....there was just something about him. Finger did a really good job writing it.

I bought this comic on Friday from my local comic shop, after reading about Goyer and Nolan being inspired by Batman #1 and the Joker's Five Part Revenge. This book is disapointing. The Man Who Laughs could not be included in this b/c the volume was collected in 1988 or 1989, which precedes The Man who Laughs by at least ten years. Its on amazon for $4.00, and honestly, I would say thats what its worth. Yes it does include landmark issues such as Batman issue 1, but it also includes issues about the Joker stealing children's "mudpies" on the Beach. This is milding amusing and a nice peak into old comics, but not much more. I also feel that while the art in the "The Joker's Five Way Revenge" its GORGEOUS, the writing is VERY dated. Batman looks very girm and menacing, but thinks and behaves like Adam West. In one part of the comic one of the Joker's goons (who the Joker is trying to kills) asks Batman if he can stand behind Batman, to which Batman responds "why yes, this would be "Another reasonable request!". The goon proptly clogs Batman on the head. I won't give too much about the story away, nor will I say that modern Batman comics with such great dialouge as "I'm the goddamned Batman" are more mature or sophisticated, but "The Five Part Revenge of the Joker" is very dated. I have not read all the issues yet, but if you can, get a copy of The Killing Joke, or The Man who Laughs.

Would anyone be able to tell me which Joker stories were included in the 'Stacked Deck' expanded edition that weren't in the regular one?

I too wish to know the answer to this question...

I received this bad boy today, I'm looking forward to reading it.
The cover is one of the best I've ever seen. Bolland =:up::up::up:

Batman #353, by Gerry Conway and José Luis García-López, and Detective Comics #569-#570, by Mike W. Barr, Alan Davis, and Paul Neary

I remember especially reading The Joker's first appearance story from Batman #1, and The man behind the Red Hood from Detective #168 quite a bit from this TPB.

The stories I liked best are:
Joker's First appearance.
The Joker's Five Way Revenge
The Laughing Fish (and Sign of the Joker)

The quote in my sig is from the last one. I love how the Joker is written in that.

I also liked 'Dreadful birthday Dear Joker'.

I thought it was great. Joker forcing all of Gotham to his birthday party where he intended to murder some people in a showy manner.

Very Jokeresque.
