Hangover 2 is a clone of the first i keep reading, so it depends if you really loved the first. Pirates 4 is really bland apparently.

Quite a few on here say GL aint as bad as the reviews say, so give it ago.

It kinda looks like sh**. Like even b4 the negative reviews rolled in I was never thrilled by it. I might support it just to help other DC properties come out

I'm hearing a lot of good things about Green Lantern from people whose opinions I trust. Honestly, the worst complaint (and the one I keep hearing from snippets of reviews) is that the movie seems to be "just another superhero origin movie", which honestly is what I expected and wanted.

I hear a lot of people whining about how such and such movie "played it too safe" or how it needed to do something else with the material than a standard superhero flick, and I honestly prefer what we're getting (I've heard from someone I'm friends with in regards to Thor) because that's what the characters are in the comics, and I'm personally only interested in the movies as a compliment to the comics.

People who complain about these superhero origin movies being too similar need to realize that, for the most part, they're just as samey in the comics they're based on. An ordinary dude with one easily identifiable character trait either gets in an accident, finds something out about their past, or stumbles across an object that imbues them with incredible power. Then insert a standard heroic journey format where they're reluctant, they fail, they're thrown in the deep end, they embrace their new life/power, and they save the day.

It's the sequel where one's standards have to improve.

This movie wasn't bad it just wasn't anywhere near complete.
It honestly feels like there is an hour missing, the transitions are poor and the acting isn't really bad it just isn't good.
Visually it is fantastic but I'd really advise you against paying top dollar for an incomplete movie, especially when a ticket can run upwards 20 dollars these days.

Hmm, so it wasn't as bad as RT said, Bubonic?

I don't see why people would complain about this being an origin movie, it is a very poor origin movie since they rush through it like mad, I was hoping for a Full Metal Jacket type hazing from Killawog and all we get are him smacking around Hal for about 2 minutes and at the end he actually has the audacity to claim he taught the kid everything he knew.

It's better than Ghost Rider, both FF movies, Batman and Robin, the Punisher movies, Daredevil theatrical cut, Blade 3, SM 3, X3, Elektra, the later Superman flicks, and yah, it really is better than a lot of the other hero movies but it's far from worth more than 10 dollars to go watch.

I think they've just been blow away by too many good hero flicks in the last couple of years or something, it's unconscionable that Ghost Rider and Origins have a higher rating, and the comparisons to Batman & Robin in terms are criminal, I'd think it deserves mid forties or a low fifty, so much potential but it didn't quite make it.

It really needed to spend more time in Oa focusing on the Green Lantern Corps and his integration into them, they really were non-entities for the most part.

I wonder if there'll be a Director's Cut. It's sounding a bit like Daredevil the way you describe it.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I got to see GL for free.

GL isn't as bad as critics made it out to be. Again, it's main flaw is the lack of Oa and exploration into the mythology and characters. That killed it. The earth scenes just kept building up, more time on Oa would have broke things up.

Emerald Knights did a better job and introducing a new recruit to the Corps.

I really liked Emerald Knights but kind of wished they made a direct sequel to First Flight. I REALLY want a Flash DTV.

I'm sad Goght (Gotham Knight) didn't read/acknowledge my post about his rapid improvement.

By the way, Goght, it's my last post in this thread - a few pages back. Love it. :yay:

No. I was only briefly talking to him.
Why does he want to move west?

Agreed. Little Jimmies t-shirt is needed.
He wants to get into movies/entertainment. Which is cool, but he made a thread on another site about how much are your monthly expenses. And in JAL form, he only focused on the 1 or 2 negative responses instead of the dozen or so positive ones. Then he took exception on the positive ones because it wasn't what he wanted to hear.

JAL got an inheritance, eh? I can only imagine how this will end...
I took it with a grain of salt like some of his other stuff. But most of us were honest, that the amount of money he was going to get wouldn't last him too long out west. Some said maybe move to a bigger city near him. Again, he didn't like the honesty.

No offense, but that's really uncalled for. The guy is just going out with a few of his friends. To assume otherwise is wrong. :whatever:
*sigh* And this is the state of SHH today. Everyone has feelings. :down

What if I told you, you could hear more JAL stuff for FOUR ****s?

I think a director's cut would make this worse.
I highly doubt that they cut much if any of the Oa stuff, and this is what the movie needed. I'm not going to be interested in extended scenes of Hal and Carol, or Hal and his nerd friend, or between Hammond and his father, the stuff they did keep was weak and uninteresting and I doubt what they cut would be better.

Oa and the Green Lantern Corps were a huge afterthought when, imo, they should of been the focus.

I must talk to him about it. I'm trying to get a feature made, while not easy by any means, he needs to learn that you can't go in negative minded or he will fail. Like me, he's going to get 100's ''no's'', before one ''yes''. He needs to focus on that one yes and take any positive things he can get from anyone.

Nowhere near as bad, they just wanted to hit where it hurts.

How are you guys talking to JAL? I want to talk! :csad:
