Finished the DC for Captain America 1990. The action scenes are still fairly shoddy looking and obviously cheap. But it's obvious that the director was aware of the limitations. This movie is very different pacing wise and in how the story plays out. The cut we all grew up with plays out linearly, while this one is then Present Day focused with flashbacks at strategic places back to WWII. I think this approach largely works better for the film, though some flashbacks don't entirely work even still. There are also a fair amount of character scene that give the movie actual themes and showcase Cap's struggle being out of time much better.
In the end, this is still a cheap movie. Nothing changes that this ain't Batman 89 or a Reeve Superman movie. But for what it is, this DC version achieves what they tried to do a lot better. It's much more competent. It is also clear the director was a fan of the character and tried with this movie. Glad thus finally saw the light of day
I will definitely be watching this soon, thanks for sharing, SF!!!I am okay with Red Skull being behind a lot of major world events. I dont think the theatrical does a great job emphasizing this, but the DC shows that the entire movie is about Captain America having failed that mission, Red Skull is still alive and he never stopped his evil, and being disillusioned with his own failure and finding a reason to fight in a world vastly different from his own. The arc and scenes with Steve in the movie are so much better thanks to the way its structured and paced. It's much more a focus in this version, as opposed to the OG movie which is more like a campy superhero movie, but cheap. Here, it plays more like a guy who was going to be a hero, but failed and had to learn to move forward in order to be the guy he was supposed to be. I actually thought this version was good, outside the cheapness which wasnt Pyun's fault since he had little resources.

Dude, there is a universe where those movies cross over with Dolph Punisher and maybe Full Moon Doctor Strange (which in our universe became Doctor Mordrid Master of the Unknown cause they lost the rights to Doctor Strange right before filming and they just changed all the names).I just finished the Captain America DC and I.... quite enjoyed it.
I never watched the original 1990's cut for whatever reason, and yeah this was made on a shoestring budget (how the hell did they afford Ned Beatty?) and the fight scenes were laughable but I actually really liked it. Especially the costuming and how they built up Red Skull. Would've been fun to see it connected in the same universe as Corman's FF.
@Spider-Fan for a second there, I thought the woman playing Sharon Carter was Missy Hyatt.![]()
If you believe this movie, Italian Red Skull was behind every assassination known to mankind.
Wait, not the one starring...

PM it to me please! Can't post due to language, but I just randomly stumbled across a video of Teri Hatcher roasting what has become of Dean Cain (while also calling Rachel Brosnahan fabulous and perfect) and it was delightful. 10/10 Totally Recommend.
I know nobody asked me, but this is my favorite version of the intro for BTAS:

An assortment of random clips taken from different episodes, or this?
I think I know which one I’m going with.
Now, if we’re talking really great alternative DCAU cartoon intros using episode clips, I present exhibit A:
Uses various clips but in a way that makes sense by giving a bit of a flavor of each character’s world and rogues gallery, while also overlaying it with great use of simplified striking iconography, silhouettes and negative space. Sums up and tells you everything you need to know about Batman and Superman in just a single minute.
One of my favorite cartoon intros of all time and I’m surprised hardly anybody talks about it.

I especially like the episode where Robin sees Slade stalking and taunting him, which turns out just to be an illusion.I think Batman :TAS is the better show overall, but the best Slade episodes.of Teen Titans are better than any batman episode imo. He was a great creepy, intense, psychological villain.
