I saw it last night. It was less than decent, but fun to see friends and the audience. Only one part actually scared me, but it was a decent plot, with quite a few cliffhangers and mysteries that try to leave you waiting for The Grudge 3. (which was confirmed during Comic-Con) The last 20 minutes builds up alot of tension, btw.

Like I said, it was less than decent, but kinda fun, so I give it a...

Rating: 4/10.

Did anyone catch this flick yet or are you still holding a grudge from the first (kinda crappy) film? :woot:

...Geez, guess I was the only one of the Hype that saw this last night.

I'm a pretty big fan of the first one (and the Japanese movies/tv series), so I'm a bit disappointed to read this, but I'll go see it.

the first one was hella better than this one!

sucks that smg
didn't hang out for long

can't wait to see her performance in the return though. she is one of the few actresses in my opinion who can pull off the scared innocent look without looking like an idiot.

I saw it last night as well. It was quite fun, not as good as the first film and the ending left me a little confused.

I might see it 2nite.
I hope it isn't as crappy as the ring's sequel. But then again all american versions of the ring sucks anyway.

Saw the first one, heard a mini review from a friend about this one. The whole series is basically anti-climactic to me, as they're never going to stop it, much less determine how the curse works. And apparantly the ghosts can be anywhere at anytime, do anything, turn water into wine, etc. That's been my only complaint, there's no limitations on their powers, which kind of makes it a "just sit around and wait for everyone to get killed" type of thing. But that's how most Japanese horror is, so whatever.

I saw The Grudge 2 last night as well.

I was entertained, so I will say I enjoyed it overall. It's the same set-up - a collection of creepy ghost situations that are part of a bigger story, but don't really seem to follow a solid set of logical rules. You just have to sit back and enjoy the creepiness for what it is.

Basically, if you liked the first one, you'll like the second one. 7/10

I'll watch the DVD as I'm a J-Horror fan, but the trailer suggests the same movie all over again and the reviews ahve not been encouraging.

Jesus is the Grudge????

I saw it at the midnight show and I was pleasantly surprised.

Amber is a much better lead and is much better characterized than Gellar was, Kayako is actually given depth and presence with a backstory to make her more than the generic pop up jump scare tool that she was last time, and Christopher Young's score was nerve-racking, it could make a Family Guy episode terrifying.

I was glad that Gellar had a minimal role. I was disappointed in her performance in The Grudge.

This is vastly superior to The Gruge, Ju-On: The Grudge, or Ju-On: The Curse...or all of them combined for that matter.

I honestly didn't see the appeal in the first one. the ghosts were more funny than scary. don't see this changing this time.

Gellar's a far better actress than Tamblyn. :o

If Tamblyn were about half as talented as she is...no, then she'd still be superior to Gellar.

She had more impact in one scene in The Ring than Gellar had in the entire Grudge movie.

The scene with the guy on the phone but it really was the ghost...Priceless.

The funniest thing from the first movie was when the girl runs back to her apartment and the ghost is disguised as her boyfriend. He calls her on the phone to ask what her apartment number is again, then as she tells him it immediately rings.

Even funnier is that she tried to hide under the covers. What is she 12?

Her brother actually, but I can see how easily it is to not know that since the movie was more concerned with being a jump scare collage than setting up who the people that the scares were happening to were.

dude, the ghosts themselves were funny. those faces they made were ridiculous and that noise sounded like they were belching or something. it was probably the least scary horror movie I've ever seen.

Even Cabin Fever? Though I guess you can hardly call that a horror flick.

Cabin Fever was like Citizen Kane compared to it.
