This thread is for Gun Enthusiasts! It's a place we where we can come and talk about the guns that we use for work or recreation or just have as home defense.

It is NOT:

  1. A place to talk about gun violence
  2. A place to talk about gun control
  3. A place to talk about ANY illegal activity

I've spoken with the moderators round these parts and I've been assured that if we don't stay on topic we will have to close this thread. So please allow me to start.

I have a .380,a Glock .40 and a Sig Sauer .357 and a 12 guage pump-action shotgun.

What about you?

I have a Glock 23 for home defense, a Mossberg 695 12 gauge (bolt action shotgun), a Ruger Mark II .22, Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter .44 Mag, CVA .50 Muzzleloader, H and R single shot 20 gauge, Browning Sweet 16 gauge semi-auto shotgun, H and R 12 gauge single shot Turkey Gun, Remington Model 512 .22 Rifle.

I would like:

.45 LC USFA SAA
30-30 Lever Action Winchester
Ruger SR-556
Ruger Alaskan in .44 Mag.

For now...

Aside from police, military, and postal workers, what jobs would require bringing a gun to work?

Recreational gun use is beyond me, I think. Although I don't find it repugnant like recreational/trophy hunting.

I just don't understand why someone would need that many guns...

My father is a gun colletor.

He is a hunter also. I much rather photograph animals. I hate hunting to be honest but I like going to the shooting range.

I currently own a Beretta 92fs. Only been to the range twice with it.

I'll update my fathers arsenal list soon. Which sooner or later will be my arsenal.

But I will say that I think that a ak47 is not as fun as people will think it is.

I do feel like the odd one in the family being a non republican guy who happens to like shooting guns at the range with his old man....maybe its to bond with dad. Who knows

I have a Mossberg 500. I love it.

I have a $2 cap gun in my closet.

Since you guys seem to have some expertise in this area, let me pose a couple of questions. What kind of rifle will bring down a bear? What is the price range for such a weapon? What kind of license will I have to get? <----I don't know if this makes any difference in the answers but these are posed in the context of possible self defense, not hunting.

I prefer to eliminate my prey with my bare hands.

If you want to go hiking and don't want to carry a large bore rifle, the Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull will do the job. In fact, it was made for guides who may have to defend themselves in that type of situation. SRP for it is 992.00, but you can probably get it for a couple hundred cheaper in the shops. Of course, you will need a pistol license to obtain it.

As for the rifle, you can hear a hundred different opinions by many people. I would google it and then check up for the price of the rifle in question. They will be expensive as they will be big bore rifles. You shouldn't need a license to get one, but some states require background check and/or registration.

The only gun we have is a .300 Savage my husband inherited from his grandfather.

We go out shooting it in the woods on our property, but we've never used it for hunting.

I had a ****** little snub nose revolver once. Dunno what it was called, was only holding it for someone :ninja:

But I do like guns, I find them fascinating. I'm not some weirdo who wants to shoot people or anything, but just the mechanism of them and the designs interest me.

Taurus PT-911 (9MM)
Springfield XD (9MM)
Beretta CX4 Storm (40 SW)
Rock River Arms AR-15 (.223 or 5.56)

I recently sold my Springfield XD9. I have a Para Ordnance carry 9 as seen in this video. I ALWAYS have this with me.

Other than that I have several guns (4) issued by my job. I wont get into that, but they cover a wide range.

I am looking to buy this so I can keep my skills up, do some plinking and all for super cheap. Probably will purchase by the end of the year.

Other than that, I have a small .22 handgun that is kind of crappy, but was my first handgun, so I will keep it for sentimental purposes. I would like to collect 1911s, but just dont have that kind of money!

Oh, and my wife has a Taurus .38 also.

We don't sell guns in Ireland :(

But I had an ak47 pellet gun...AWESOME!

Teddy Roosevelt, is that you? :wow:

I've never used a gun before in my life, but I've been thinking about taking classes. I'm studying criminal justice, and although I don't plan to have an in-field law enforcement job that'll require a gun, I might change my mind and it'd probably be a good idea to know how to defend myself.

That was my major and I have been carrying a gun ever since then. I may be missing something here...do the criminal justice classes in yoru area offer firearms training somehow???? The last part of your statement made me wonder.

No, firearms training isn't included in my criminal justice classes. I was talking about checking out an independent shooting range.

Cool thread.

Between me and my dad we have the following:

Kimber Ultra Carry II .45
S&W Sigma .40
Beretta Tomcat .32
1911 Houston Police Special .45
M1 Garand
Two shotguns (don't know the gauge)
edit: a carbine

I recently have a strange desire to acquire a gun. But I'm absolutely terrified by them. I wasn't prior to the armed robbery, though.

You should go for it. Also to the bolded, that sucks. Hopefully you came out ok.

Thanks. I think I did, haha. I mean, I wasn't physically injured, but it was a pretty traumatic experience. And I think it's a big reason why I want a gun now - to feel safer.

Whenever I have sex, I have a gun underneath the pillow. She loves it. I love it... we both love it.

Guns = Love
