fun fact - Clarence Daniels is licensed to carry his firearm

This just shows ignorance on both sides. Daniels may be licensed to carry that firearm, but it is supposed to be concealed! that's why it supposed to be a concealed weapon permit. It should be concealed to the point that he can move around normally and the weapon not be seen. No one is supposed to be able to see it for the very reason some people panic when they see a gun. The people that did this to Daniels I hope are educated and punished in the matter. unfortunate event none the less.

Where is the ACLU?!! Rights can be abused here when combining governmental health care with gun laws. Oh, wait they are going to need to wait for some doctor to railroad a minority incorrectly as mentally ill, denying that USA citizen his or her rights to own a gun... and then it will be a tough call for them!

Very sad, but likely true. Medical records I thought were supposed to be private via the HIPPA Laws, not given to the FBI and government agencies! Any lawyers in the house want to comment?

Anyone who can't see this dangerous slippery slope is either looking away purpose or simply blind to this cleverly conceived agenda that mainstream media for whatever reason is not reporting.

In other related news, Obama wants to remove the convicted felony box, exposing companies and their workers to lord know who did what.

What in the sweet hell are you rambling about Taarna?

I still don't think mental illness should be the focal point of our problem here. Mental illness isn't exclusive to America, but mass gun ownership is, and more importantly ease of access to firearms is.

True with over 100 million gun owners in the US who own over 200 million guns. But there something like 12000 gun deaths in the US so that is a very low percentage in comparison to the 100 million guns owners. Also it is not as easy to get a gun legally as the President would like all of us to believe.

While Mental illness isn't exclusive to the US neither is gun ownership. A .22 hand gun can cause damage. Please don't take this as me belittling your struggle. I just feel that is the US was as violent as the anti-gun crowd says the year gun deaths would be well over 100,000 instead of the 12,000 that occur. There was over 30,000 car related deaths in the US in 2014. I know Car ownership is probably double but the deaths are similar.

So because the carnage caused by guns isn't as much as it could be we should do nothing then?

What the hell?

In America 2015, there have been incidents involving guns every week....EVERY WEEK.
Almost daily.
Even 1% is a percentage that is too high...12000 is a worrying high number.
200 million guns is more then armys in 3-4 countrys together have.

There is no way you can seriously try and compare car accidents with deaths involving guns!
How can you compare something that was built mainly for transportation with something that was just built to end lifes?

Pretty sure we have the worst death rate by guns in all developed countries. So yeah, it is a real problem. Also, since when was 12,000 preventable deaths a year a low number?

Not counting suicides the US is 18th(and this list doesn't take into many countries from Africa and the Middle East). The US is actually pretty high when it comes to suicides by guns(#2)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate#List

That being said yeah we probably want to try keep in line with most European countries, Canada and Australia then say hey we are better then South America

Obama is doing something. He is closing the one and only loop hole. Which is private party sells. Once this goes into effect even a private seller must sell the firearm through a licensed FFL Firearms dealer so the purchaser has to pass a background check.

What made me so mad was the outright LIE Obama said and the media is feeding everywhere. "A violent felon can buy (a gun) over the Internet with no background check, no questions asked." That's not how it works and that IS NOT what is happening. You CANNOT buy a firearm online with no background check. Don't believe me? Look it up. Any and all firearms that are purchased at a dealer or online MUST and IS shipped to a FFL firearms dealer where the purchaser must fill out paperwork and pass a background check. This quote from Obama shows 100% he is either just ignorant or willingly lying to feed the media.
I'm not a Obama fan to begin with. I do support his order for 100% background checks but again, this closes THE ONLY loop hole that existed when purchasing firearms which is the private party selling.

I admit I don't know the rules since I have no desire to buy a gun. But from how you just described it, TECHNICALLY he isn't lying. The way you wrote it, it sounds like I can buy a gun online, without a check. I only get the background check once I go try to pick it up from a dealer. So while yes, ultimately I will get a background check but at the time I actually pick a gun online, there is no background check at that point.

It wouldn't be the first time a politician used a misleading piece of information to sell a point.

You buy the firearm online. It ships to the FFL licensed dealer. You fill out paperwork and have a background check. If you pass. The firearm is yours. If you dont pass the firearm ships back to the seller and you are refunded money from the original online supplier. It was a lie. Obama was clearly trying to say you can buy a gun online and thats it. No background check involved. If thats not a lie i dont know what is. I understand what you are implying. But it is still a lie.

Oh I agree with you. It's disingenuous. He was technically correct but not factually correct.

We're good Samsnee. :) i was just adding clarification is all. Nothing burns me more than false "facts" put out by the media and etc. No matter which side the political or gun rights fence we are on.

I'm an Obama fan but he's just as much a politician as the rest of them.

I gotcha, and respect that. I'm not an Obama fan, but, I don't try to demonize him like a lot of people on the right tend to do. Yeah I'm pretty much a firm Republican, but, I give all candidates a fair chance and listen and research to make sure I know how to read into truth vs the made up political and media slander on both sides. Honestly, I've found my self correcting friends and people on social media that have posted edited and spliced videos making Obama look like he is saying things that he has not. Am I defending Obama even though I don't like him? Depends how you look at it. I just hate false info, false facts, media slander and etc. it happens to both sides all the time. But back to your original reply lol, yeah i agree he's a politician just like the rest.

The US by far leads the way in gun violence over any other 1st world nation in the world. YAY!!! Go 'merica!!

How does that stack up against active war zones? :p

I have nothing against responsible gun ownership but what reasonable parent would allow their kid to go here

So they want to preserve the second amendment by violating the first and saying don't teach anything controversial. Then what's the point of an education if you aren't allowed to have open safe debate? And if you're a professor who wants a gun free classroom, you'll get fined for it?

Company Invents Gun That Folds Up to Look Like a Cellphone

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/company-invents-gun-folds-look-cellphone-n547221

And the anti-gun nuts just collectively soiled themselves in abject horror. :hehe:

The .380-caliber pistol, called Ideal Conceal, will be available later this year and "will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight," Ideal Conceal says on its website.

In locked position, the two-shot plastic gun with a metal core can be discreetly slipped into pockets, like a real phone. But "with one click of the safety it opens and is ready to fire," Ideal Conceal claims.

The creator, Kirk Kjellberg, told NBC News the idea came to him after he attracted attention for carrying a concealed weapon in a restaurant.

"A boy spotted me in the restaurant and said loudly, 'Mommy, Mommy, that guy's got a gun!' And then pretty much the whole restaurant stared at me," he said.
Scared of openly-carried guns? Fine, we'll conceal them. Catch a glimpse of a concealed gun and still get scared? Fine, we'll make it look like a cellphone.

Then, you won't be scared. :cwink:
