Discuss the score. Discuss the geniuses behind the score. Post remixes of your favorite tracks. These guys deserve an Oscar for their unusual, groundbreaking score!

i........................ appreciate... them

It wasnt groundbreaking but I like the musical cues they had in the last film better in this movie

Powerful music at times the soundtrack to my life :woot:

Its definitely not groundbreaking though but it's a great score.

An Oscar? No...

The score is richer than "Begins," but there's nothing groundbreaking about it. Certainly not to the point of being awarded by the Academy.

Now Elfman's Batman scores on the other hand...

love the score, it's simply amazing!

Grab the 22-track "complete score" that's floating around the internet - it's fantastic. I've been listening to the last 4 tracks continuously.

Hans and James got it so right: whereas the previous batman films had a single memorable superhero theme, the Chris Nolan Batman films have several themes that reveal the different emotional depths to the batman/bruce wayne character. They are all strong themes but it's hard to say which is THE batman theme because they all are.

Harvey Two-Face is the best track in the movie. I actually expected something similar for The Joker's theme. I think that the score deserves an Oscar. Because I really can't think of a film at the moment that has a better soundtrack.

I agree they deserve an Oscar. I wasn't too crazy about BB soundtrack but I think TDK is really superior.

They did a great job. Howard is great with the moving pieces. I particularly like Harvey Two-Face and his use of piano.

Zimmer is pure fun. I love Aggressive Expansion. It's all great, to be honest.

They DON'T deserve an Oscar. There were some great tracks, but nothing too amazing, just rearrangements from BB.

They are great and do deserve Oscar consideration. On a side note, I'd be curious to hear what a David Julyan score would be for Batman (the other composer who Nolan frequently works with). He's great also.

'Why So Serious?' is a badass track! My favorite!

I second that. It's absolutely incredible. I love how it's used in the build up scene to Joker crashing Dent's party, showing the Judge and Loeb getting murdered.

Still gives me goosebumps.

Thread should be called the Hans Zimmer/James Newton Howard DE-preciation thread.

agreed. i dont know who could possibly say they deserve an oscar, just the biased nolan fanboys. i bought the score but was dissapointed yet again. alot of the familiar music was just rehashes from BB, seems the SWAT teams even have a theme. i remember zimmer talking about a batman theme for TDK.....but where was it? its still just that 2 note duuuuuuuuuuuhh DUUUUUUUHH. only track i remember i liked ALOT was "why so serious" because it sounded cool and was for the joker and had a cool heavy metal riff sound too it and really got the feel of nolans joker. but there were a few other tracks that were good, but overall the rest of the score made me sleepy. i still think elfman made the best batman scores possible, i could listen to the elfman scores repeatedly, that was more of a classical music sound like john williams, not this sound effect laden stuff by zimmer.

It is a brilliant track, so unpredictable and tense.

I concur, WSS is a fantastic track, it takes me right back in the movie.

They won't get an oscar nomination, for the same reason Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead didn't get one for "There will Be Blood." They reused cues from BB, whereas the Oscars only nominate for "Original" score. Because they reused cues, it eliminates them from an Oscar nomination.

Yeah I think you're right. The There Will Be Blood score was my favorite last year too.

No, they rehash their ideas. I think the next movie needs someone else to provide the score.

Score was amazing. I don't care what anyone else thinks. I love the fact they brought back some of the themes and motifs from BB.

It deserves an Oscar nom.

It would be a cumulative nom for their work on both Batman Begins and the Dark Knight.
