I loved the the score of The Dark Knight, especially the Harvey Dent theme and twisted Two-Face theme that turned it upside down. But no way in heck should it get an oscar. I recall an interview with Hans saying he chose not to make the Batman theme memorable because that would defy the character's darkness. Now either he was telling some serious BS because he couldn't make a good memorable theme, or he was sincrely deluded enough to think a memorable score would dilute Batman.
I just watched Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and that score kick's TDK's one's behind frankly. Ant it was memorable, the BTAS tune amped up in operatic form was freakin' epic to say the least, and totally enhanced the movie, not detract.
Not bashing the music, it was brilliant, but it is kind of sad when a 200 million dollar superhero movie gets beaten by a cartoon (albeit one of the best cartoons ever).
