This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]461829[/split]
Sorry about the rant and to keep living in the past (bc I'm out of my skin excited for TASM2, I love everything about it so far) and this will be the last thing I say on the topic, but this is one of the best pieces of film score I've ever heard. And I'm not being hyperbolic

No problem. And going back to your comments about Horner's work for ASM, I agree with you. It truly is a lovely score. I think Horner was on to something and I was a bit disheartened to hear he wouldn't be coming back for the sequel. Despite a few issues with ASM's music I felt it was one of the better superhero soundtracks in recent years. It was organic, dynamic, and in the scope of a massive movie it was very intimate. Not to mention imo this is one of Horner's more original works with only a few notable references to his previous scores.
I'm not a huge Zimmer fan so I think that puts me somewhere in the minority. However, I like the idea that he's got so many other musicians working with him on this project for ASM2. I just hope he's able to also create something noteworthy and original.
Agreed on all accounts, with the exception of Zimmer already being one of my favorite composers before he boarded ASM2. So many people know him mainly for his work with Nolan and other recent compositions, but I think he has a spectacularly deep and diverse body of work
^The bolded part especially is what has me so freakin excited for this score, and what really sold me on finally accepting that they wanted to move on from Horner. Despite being my favorite composer, I wasn't psyched when Hans was first announced... but with all this collaboration, and "super group," and the creativity and talent going into this score, I can't help but think that this now may be one of the greatest scores/soundtracks to come out
I remember when the soundtrack for TASM was online before the movie came out, I was spamming it every day at work, imagining how each song fit each scene! It was gold!
I can't wait to do the same this time around!
Honestly, I only think Horner's score was lacking during the action sequences. Everything else was golden. However, I am really excited to hear what Zimmer and his musical supergroup has in store for us!
Come to my #SXSW keynote: Sat, VIMEO theater 11AM. Teasing supernuts ASM2 score by @Realhanszimmer @Pharrell @Johnny_Marr @MichaelEinziger
Marc Webb just tweeted this:
Score preview, eh?
Yup! Too bad none of us are at SXSW.
I didn't hear much of paranoia?
And the theme wasn't too different but had a weird beginning. Couldn't make it out.
After just watching 12 Years A Slave, i'm seriously hoping Zimmer puts effort into this. He basically used his theme from Inception as the soundtrack to that movie...
