Yeah, I know the director's cut is 16 minutes longer, but it's mostly little things with one or two scenes that are completely new compared to the Theatrical cut. Of course, I'm going from memory when I saw it at theaters but it seemed mostly similar minus a few exceptions. It's not a drastic difference like other extended cuts.

Hollis Mason death scene adds volumes to the movie. While I have the digital copy of the theatrical version on my computer, I'd rather never see that version again. The DC adds that much extra to me.

I agree, what I was saying was that the DC isn't that drastic of a change that you won't like it. So, if someone liked the theatrical version, they will love the DC even more.

My math has it at 24 minutes longer...lol.

absolutely

It's starting to sound more and more like the directors cut is the way to go...regardless of if the theatrical cut is included. Thanks guys!

Disney's Upgrade2Blu Program Goes Live

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has launched the "Upgrade2Blu" program, which offers $8 off the Blu-ray editions of the Disney movies you already own on DVD. Just access the Upgrade2Blu page, select the eligible titles that you own, print out a rebate form and affix proof-of-purchase tabs from the DVDs, mail in the form with the tabs, and you will receive the savings coupon via email.

Disney clarifies that you can keep your DVD copy "to use in your home, car or portable DVD player". So, unlike Warner's DVD2Blu program, you don't have to mail in the actual DVD.

NPD: Blu-ray Player Sales Up 53% in Black Friday Week
During Black Friday week, Blu-ray players were among the hottest consumer technology items. The NPD Group has reported that BD player sales volume surged by 53% from the same period in 2008, surpassed only by computers (up 63%) and camcorders (55%). No information of revenue or average player price was given at this point.

Total CE revenue for the week of Black Friday was slightly more than $2.7 billion, down 1.2% from 2008. However, that decline was an improvement over the 3.4% fall between 2007 and 2008.

Unit volume sales of flat-panel TVs increased by 15%, but the high level of discounting (with average selling price $535, or 20 percent less than a year ago) meant revenues dropped by 9%.

“Consumers came out this year because there were deals to be had -- the same reason they have been shopping for electronics all year,” said Stephen Baker, NPD's vice president of industry analysis. “What made Black Friday different this year is how aggressive those price cuts were. This year retailers and manufacturers knew it wasn't going to be about increasing revenue, it needed to be about getting consumers excited to shop and moving those products out of the stores.”

In turn, computer hard drive sales rose 33%, GPS units increased by 15%, and both point-and-shoot cameras as well as multi-function printers posted zero growth versus 2008.

I know man! I got mine for 15.99 at best buy, whereas the 2 disc standard dvd is 22.99

I pre-ordered it at Amazon when it was $16.99, then it went down to $15.99, which I was officially charged for when it shipped. But it went down to $14.99 that same day, and I just got an email from Amazon telling me they're automatically refunding the $1 thanks to their pre-order guarantee. Pretty cool!

Just got it in the mail today, so I'm watching it tonight! :up:

Blu-ray Sales, November 30-December 6:Terminator Demolishes Museum
'Terminator: Salvation' was the clear winner in the Blu-ray sales race last week, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert. McG's postapocalyptic actioner sold nearly three times as many BD copies as the other major new release of the week, 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian', and set a new BD market share record for a new release.

Regarding Blu-ray market share, 'Terminator Salvation' sold 42% of its copies on Blu-ray, breaking the record for a new release, set only two weeks ago by 'Star Trek' (which had had 38% in its first week). 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' had 14%.

HBO Launches Blu-ray TV Ad Campaign
HBO has launched its first TV campaign dedicated entirely to Blu-ray Disc. This campaign, with the tagline “Unleash HBO on Blu-ray”, will run through Christmas on “male-centric shows and networks”, and aims to promote the studio's Blu-ray library to consumers who buy or receive BD players during the holidays.

Alien Blu-ray to Feature Sigourney Weaver Commentary
During an interview for the Los Angeles Times to promote the theatrical release of 'Avatar', actress Sigourney Weaver (who plays a botanist in James Cameron's movie) discussed all her movie career and her status as "queen of sci-fi". She also revealed that in the weeks to come, she will record a commentary for the upcoming Blu-ray release of the 'Alien' tetralogy.

“I've never done that, watched all of [the Alien movies] in a row,” Weaver said. “I just recently made my [19-year-old] daughter watch them. She had never seen them before, believe it or not. I think she just prefers to think of me as good ol' mom, you know, not some person running around a spaceship with a flamethrower.”

Toy Story 1 and 2 Get Blu-ray Dates
Confirming earlier reports (see blu-ray.com, December 3), retailers are now displaying a release date for Disney/Pixar's 'Toy Story' and 'Toy Story 2', along with cover images (possibly temporary) and some release details. Both titles will reportedly come out on March 23, 2010, in combo backs which will include the DVD and the Blu-ray of the respective movie.

Special features listed are as follows:

Toy Story

* Toy Story 3 Sneak Peek: "The Story"
* Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: Blast Off
* Paths to Pixar: Artists
* Studio Stories:
o John's Car
o Baby AJ
o Studio Stories: Scooter Races
* Buzz Takes Manhattan
* Black Friday: The 'Toy Story' You Never Saw

Toy Story 2

* Toy Story 3 Sneak Peek: "The Characters"
* Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: International Space Station
* Paths to Pixar: Technical Artists
* Studio Stories:
o 'Toy Story 2' Sleep Deprivation Lab
o Pinocchio
o The Movie Vanishes
* Pixar's Zoetrop
* Celebrating Our Friend Joe Ranft
* BD Live-Portal

At any rate, all of the above is unofficial until there is an announcement from the studio.

Hopefully Warner Bros. decides to go through with this:

Sources at Warner Home Video inform The World's Finest a new DVD and Blu-ray release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is currently being considered.

Multiple reports have turned up this week, erroneously claiming a new DVD release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is currently in the works. Sources inform The World's Finest that a new DVD and Blu-ray release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is not in the works, but is only being considered at this time.

Fans have been clamoring for a new DVD release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm for some time now. Released during the emergence of the DVD format, the current Batman: Mask of the Phantasm DVD features only the theatrical trailer as a bonus feature. The release is also a flip-disc, featuring a matted widescreen transfer on one side, and a full screen transfer on the other. An upgraded release of the film has been buzzed about for years as the DVD format became the dominant home video media. That same disc has been re-released multiple times, copying exactly the content and quality of the original Batman: Mask of the Phantasm DVD release.

Warner Home Video has stated that Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is currently under consideration for a new DVD and Blu-ray release. With fan demand for this release rising, and given the popularity of the character of Batman right now, chances are favorable for a new Batman: Mask of the Phantasm release in the near future. To reiterate, a new DVD and Blu-ray release of is not in the works, but is only being considered at this time. A definitive update on the status of a new release for Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is expected in the near future.

Stay tuned for further updates.

BEST BATMAN MOVIE EVER!

The Lord of the Rings Blu-ray Set for April
New Line Home Entertainment, in conjunction with Warner Home Video, will release 'The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy' on Blu-ray on April 6, 2010. Release details are largely unchanged from those revealed early in the year (see blu-ray.com, June 24). The nine-disc box set will contain the theatrical versions of the movies, along with more than seven hours of special features (on three regular DVDs), digital copies for each film, and previews for the extended versions of the films (which will come out on Blu-ray "at a later date").

A week later, Warner Home Video will release the 1978 animated version of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic.

Peter Jackson Restoring His Early Films for Blu-ray

In a recent interview for Reel Time (a programme on the CineMagic XM radio channel), Peter Jackson said he is currently restoring his "early films" for release on Blu-ray. No specific titles were mentioned, but Jackson was probably referring to his three first movies, which have become cult favorites in their own right: 'Bad Taste', 'Meet the Feebles' and 'Braindead' (also known as 'Dead Alive').

The interview will replay on CineMagic (XM Ch. 76) today at 9 am ET and 11 pm ET.

Dang, April now...geesh...they might as well have included the extended cuts in that package for making us wait till April.
