Justice League The Home Release Thread - Hopes & possible fears

Most expect them to release a regular cut sort of in March then release another extended cut (not snyder cut) to milk as much as they can to make up for JL's box office lol

Yeah, I just want...some sort of longer cut. There is so so so much more footage that they can just add into Whedon's edit and I'm sure a lot of it is mastered footage too. More Atlantis, more Flash backstory, Vic backstory, more history lesson footage and more SUPERMAN. They need to find a way to re-integrate that into the film otherwise all that good EXPENSIVE footage has gone to waste.

At the very very LEAST, the least they can do is just include them as "Deleted scenes" on the blu ray for people to see, tons of movies put deleted scenes on the home release with unfinished CGI on there all the time and label them as "alternate takes/ Extended takes." So what the frick is the harm here? Just release them! The only reason I can think of why they wouldn't is if they ARE in fact putting together an extended cut for down the line.

In 5 years we talk about our favorite JL cut, some will say, Matt47's Cut is awesome

All I want is the 5.1 mix so I can get rid of the Elfman's score audio track :woot: and rescore some scenes myself. But scoring those fan edits would be even more awesome.

Ugh I know right.

That's what I believe will happen; thankfully, unlike with the previous movies, I don't feel the urge to watch JL repeatedly as soon as possible, so I can wait... :yay:

It would be ironical if WB don't release the Extended Cut for this movie, as it's something that most fans would buy. Afterall, they released Extended Cuts (or Ultimate Cut/ Director's Cut) for movies such as -

Superman 2, Green Lantern, Watchmen, Suicide Squad, Batman V Superman, to say nothing about various cuts available for Blade Runner, LOTR and Hobbit trilogy.

i got a feeling WB is testing the waters by releasing this one first w/ minimal bonus scenes (akin to suicide squad).

Ugh I know right.

Bad thing is, while some 5.1 mixes have that one track for dialogue and sound effects, some other have some residual music in that track so it's quite useless. Hope JL is the first case.

Yeah I've noticed that these Dc movies have been really good with that though so hopefully nothing has changed in that department.

I can't resist getting this. That snippet shows just how good even a few seconds can be, if there's more Snyder/Terrio I need to see it.
Hopefully strong sales of a "bonus scenes" DVD could only improve the odds of us getting a Snyder cut.

Indeed, what most fans fail to realize is this, if the Theatrical Cut has low sales, it diminishes the likelihood of us getting the Snyder Cut.

I think if you are a fan, either buy the Theatrical Cut or the Extended Cut, to show that there is a market out there that justifies that presence of such Director's Cut.

The main reason why I don't see the WB putting out Snyder's movie is because if it comes out and turns out to be good then further hate would ensue and the fallout could be something great.

I actually think they're just lazy.

Fallout has already happened (many Executives have been replaced, moved out, demoted), only thing that needs to happen is firing of KT, which may take place if AT&T deal to buy Time Warner goes through.

Releasing Snyder cut could have both positive and negative effects.
It would look bad if they butchered a good film, but at this stage in the JL story, that would just be the cherry on top, I imagine the brand has been damaged to the point that this wouldn't make it significantly worse.
The potential benefits are money from the sales (assuming there's enough interest), pleasing Snyder fans, and if it is good could generate some positivity for the DCEU.

Likely the decision is based entirely on money. If WB believe that releasing a Snyder cut would make enough money to cover the costs of producing it and turn a profit, they'll do it.

Healthy DVD sales for this release would likely be the best way of convincing WB that a Snyder cut would be profitable.

I know we will probably never see the Snyder cut, but if there's a one percent chance...

Seems like making a proper full version of Snyder's vision would be quite expensive and you'd need to bring Zack back into the WB place which I think would be very cringy experience for all involved. "Hey Zack, how are you? Sorry for totally ruining your movie and the trilogy.", "Nah, it's good, I haven't even seen it yet, so I'm not that mad..."

Where did you read this?

Yeah, I mean, the two biggest obtacles are rendering unfinished CGI and scoring the film and editing the score into the film. That stuff takes time and money and I dont see that happening. Just re-hiring Junkie XL by itself is an impossibility and unprecedented. The ONLY way is if Snyder had a cut of the film that was "good enough" to release as a rough cut with music edited in and unpolished cgi. But even then, thats a stretch.

Snyder stopped working on the movie last May. 6 months before release. Principal photography finished in November of 2016. So, more or less, Snyder had been working on post for 6 months, give or take. So I think its conceivable that Zack has a coherent edit of the movie ready, not an assembly cut but a theater edit of the movie ready using temp music. Question is, how presentable is it for a "special edition" home release?

Collider pod cast debate on the 'Snyder Cut' and lack of on home release....

Justice League section debate begins at 16 mins 8 seconds (rather than wading through).....

The film was not finished and cut by Snyder, so you would need him back. And VFX shots of Snyder's footage were not finished either. You can see that from the leaked stuff.

I don't watch Collider, some important points there we should take from that video?

Most of the CGI in the movie was finished and they did have a locked version of the film. They just had to finish a few things in the CGI department but nothing as big as people are making it out to be. It's just the WB saw it and just felt it wasn't bright enough.
