Girlfriend hasn't seen the Evil Dead remake. This simply will not do.

Just watching an episode of Hammer House of Horror, I've never watched the series, saw the episode Children of the Full Moon the other day and thought it was fantastic. So I bought the series and am watching The House That Bled To Death.

holy ****. by pure coincidence, i watched the same episode of Hammer House of Horror, before work. i had bought the entire series off of amazon. and, figuring it'd be about werewolves, i chose 'Children of the Full Moon' as my sample (the woman who greets the couple plays the devil in another british anthology series). i really love what i have watched, so far. Pearce Brosnan was in the last one. House that Bled to Death was about the con artist family, right?

Gooby.

I must be the only person that didn't like it. The gore was good but just kind of there without any use and it just didn't feel like The Evil Dead to me. Kind of like the Dawn of the Dead remake. Not bad but if you're going to take that name on it...

Check out the Maniac remake. IMO its the best American horror film in years.

I absolutely HATED the first 20 minutes or so of the new Evil Dead. Once the movie kicked into gear there was enough blood and violence to keep me entertained, but I don't think it was anything great or memorable.

Why? Its very much of a piece with the rest of it.

If a movie has a good rating on Amazon(where I go for reviews),I'll watch it. I will definitely give this one a go. The best horror movies are from the 70s/80s.

its one of my all time favorite horror movies. its criminally underrated as its rarely ever mentioned among horror conversations. but its such an unsettling film that creeps up to this jaw dropping ending. those early cronenberg horror films are the best, i.e. the brood, rabid, shivers...

Mostly because the dialogue went something like this...
"Hello, longtime friend...I see that your girlfriend is a nurse"
"Yes, and please say hello to our other longtime friend, who is a teacher"

The development of the characters was just way too clunky to accept post-Cabin In The Woods, especially since it took place at a cabin in the woods.

There is an extended cut of Halloween?

In 1980, NBC bought the rights to broadcast Halloween on national TV. Unfortunately several scenes had to be cut in order for the movie to get past the censors. Specifically Michael stabbing Judith, Annie getting undressed after spilling melted butter on her clothes, Annie getting stuck in the laundry room window, Annie getting her throat cut, Bob & Linda making love, Linda exposing her breasts to (who she thought was) Bob, Michael strangling Linda, and I think maybe also a scene or two of Michael chasing Laurie. After the network's hatchet job, they found that the finished product was 15 minutes short of their scheduled 2 hour time slot.

John Carpenter was in the middle of shooting Halloween 2 at the time, so he agreed to write a couple of extra scenes and shot them to be added to the edited for TV version of Halloween. Specifically, there was a scene in between Michael killing Judith in the film's opening scene and Dr Loomis driving to Smith's Grove where Dr Loomis is asking the Smith's Grove administrators to move Michael to a maximum security hospital. Then after Michael escapes, there's an added scene right before Dr Loomis argues with Dr Wynne about the lack of security and effort to retrieve Michael where the head nurse is telling Loomis what happened the previous night. Then there was an added scene of Linda coming over to Laurie's and telling her that someone has been following her in a station wagon.

About ten years ago, a version of Halloween with both the cut scenes from the original theatrical release and the replacement scenes for the televised version all edited into one long extended cut with 15 minutes of extra footage (the shot for TV scenes) was released on DVD. That's the version I have in my horror collection, and is my favourite version of the 1978 original (I find the added scenes really add something to the story). Unfortunately the DVD is very bare bones, with little if any special features. But the quality of the movie is top notch.

Misterio. Not Mysterio. That's the Americanized name. Misterio Sr. has also groomed a new Misterio Jr. in Mexico, as well.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

My bad, I'm just so used to seeing Rey-Rey. I just didn't want anyone saying "He's the killer? Really? How intimidating could he possibly be? He's like 6 inches away from wrestling in the midget division!"

Rey Classic is about 6'4" and weighs around 250 lbs. Trust me, he's intimidating.

Dude that's an awesome coincidence. The Children if the Full Moon episode was my sampler too and I have to say the best I've watched so far. I've only watched the episodes the House a That Bled to Death, which btw you are correct with the con artist family and the one with Brian Cox where Peter Cushing trucks him so he can trap him.

I didn't like it either. Thought it was a bit boring and not scary.

I do like the added scenes but never found them completely necessary to the film or the story, but unlike some fans I definitely don't hate them.

I give it 3/5. The first 45 minutes dragged pretty hard. It wasn't too creepy. The ending was really good though. I can see why you might think it's underrated. I can also see why it could be forgotten. Some of the acting was a little stiff from the male lead. Performances otherwise were good. The music could have been a little better too. Did this movie ever get a sequel?

Good suggestion, keep them coming people. I won't be able to watch any suggestions until this weekend though.

Yeah, he's not that small a dude. My friend saw this, he might even own it, and hated it. Still need to see it myself because, well, good or bad, I have to see it. Wasn't willing to buy it blind at the prices some stores were asking for it (make that mistake enough already).

My horror movie marathon has begun with the remake of Friday the 13th.

The Brood, directed by David Cronenberg.

I just watched The Brood about a week ago and it was pretty damn good. Not what I expected but it was a nice surprise. The ending is indeed a bit twisted, which is no surprise considering this is a Cronenberg film. :woot:

MY best friend texted me earlier about getting a Tales From the Crypt night together some time soon. I can't say no to that.
