The Horror Thread - Part 7

For me, it used to be just a random selection of horror movies but recently, I've got an order set up.

First Week: New releases (horror films that have been released this year)
Second Week: Universal Monster Series (I've been going through each universal monster's filmography)
Third Week: Horror Series/Classics I've Never Seen (Either check out another series or watch old horror flicks I've never seen)
Fourth Week: Favorites (My favorite horror films that I watch every year)

Of course, my list is always fluid and stuff can be moved around depending on what's coming out, but usually that's what I keep in mind when I'm doing a 31 day horror marathon.

I like that! Original/different way to have an order.
I haven't made a list this year, unlike previous times. I'm gonna watch according to my mood of the night.

I produced a documentary short!
I run a 501c3 mental health non-profit for fans of Horror, Sci-Fi and superheroes...and for this doc I interviewed some performers at Halloween haunted houses about how their careers have helped them cope with their mental health issues.
It's not a "horror movie" like we normally discuss here...but it's RELATED to Horror...kinda...and this is my favorite thread here at the hype...so here you go...

Took a day and a half extra to finish it, but overall I'm happy with this year's 31 Nights.

01. The Addams Family (1991)
02. Addams Family Values (1993)
03. Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowman Unrated (2000)*
04. Beast (2022)

07. Werewolf By Night (2022)
08. Tucker And Dale VS Evil (2010)
09. Cottage Country (2013)

12. Pumpkinhead (1988)*
13. Creature From Black Lake (1976)*
14. Waxwork (1988)*
15. Waxwork II: Lost In Time (1992)*
16. Dracula (1931)*
17. Hellraiser (1987)*
18. Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 (1988)*
19. Hellraiser 3: Hell On Earth Unrated Cut (1992)*
20. Night Of The Living Dead (1990)
21. Christine (1983)
22. Crawl (2019)
23. Stitches (2012)
24. Leprechaun (1993)*

27. Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996)*

29. Leprechaun Back 2 Tha Hood (2003)*
30. A Quiet Place (2018)
31. A Quiet Place Part II (2020)*

This was a much needed distraction, too.

Anyone else feels like this was the best year in horror in forever?

I'm just going through all the movies I've ranked in the top tier and so many of them are horror.

Totally; just my top 10 have 4 legit horror films and 3 films with heavy horrific scenes and are at least thrillers...

A++
(1) The Batman [so many Halloween '78/Christine homages]
(2) TÁR [just like Eyes Wide Shut - personal error horror]
(4) X
(5) Pearl
A+
(8) Crimes Of The Future [David showing he still has it]
(9) Speak No Evil [best ending in a long time]
(10) Bones & All [the finger bite, dude]

Let alone my 11-40 consist of great to really solid horror/thriller films...

A
(11) Nope
(13) Men
(14) The Northman
(16) Halloween Ends [keeps climbing... love it so much]
(17) Prey
(18) Scream
(19) Bodies Bodies Bodies [so fun]
(20) Watcher [watch this immediately]
B
(22) Barbarian
(23) Fresh
(25) Smile [slow burn, but worth that last attack]
(30) Hellraiser
C
(31) Deadstream [never truly scary, but hilarious and inventive]
(32) The Black Phone
(35) Significant Other [...if Under The Skin was also a rom-com]

Nosferatu
I Saw the TV Glow

The Watchers
Speak No Evil
Wolf Man
Abigail
The First Omen
The Toxic Avenger
Saw XI
Tarot
Presence
Sting
Weapons
Your Monster
The Strangers trilogy

Finally watch Pope's Exorcist and it was nice for a film to not try to act like it was trying to be THE EXORCIST...

But it lost that good will by the last act with bad cgi, too many set pieces, and such.

The good stuff was Crowe chewing scenes, literally... the 80's needle drops.. and the history aspects. [2.5/5]

I wasn't a big fan of it either but I did like when it wanted to be an EC comics story where it leans in on the insane sh** like Crowe's batsh** performance and the light show at the end.

Finally watched Ms .45 // This deserves the praise of Sleepaway Camp and the appreciation of F13.

What a crazy and amazing film.

I’d die for Thana (Zoë Lund). [5/5]
