As big of a Horror fan as I am, it never occurred to me to have an October marathon...

There are a lot of classics that I've never seen (not just Horror...I've never seen Wizard of Oz, Godfather and a bunch of others). Some I intentionally avoid (anything by child rapists like Roman Polanski and Victor Salva)...and others, like some classic Hammer films and old black and white movies that Rob Zombie has probably written songs about, I just never got around to. Maybe October will be my journey through stuff I should have watched long ago.

the guy is a piece of garbage, sure. but i'd still recommend 'Jeepers Creepers.' i figure that he put a lot of himself into the antagonist.

Whoa, what's this about Victor Salva? never heard this story. But I do agree, both Jeepers Creepers movies are pretty good horror films. Never saw Rosemary's Baby, that's the only horror film Polanski did, right? Had a few chances, and the DVD used to be ridiculously cheap, but I've just never gave it a shot.

Oh yeah, the case with Salva is quite gruesome.

Having said that, I had seen Jeepers Creepers II before finding out the news, and had liked it more than the original (due to the homages to Melville's famous novel.) After finding out the history, I lost interest in the franchise.

And now I know what that case was. I've liked the JC movies long enough, I'm not going to turn and outright hate them now, but I'm glad to see Salva is retiring from directing, and I'm not interested in seeing any of his other movies. Can't help but think the next time I watch JC I'll think of this though.

I hear that Jeepers Creepers (and Rosemary's Baby) is good...but I know myself well enough to know that I will not be able to enjoy them. That may be slightly irrational on my part, as a good movie is a good movie regardless of the crimes of the director...but I am okay with having an irrational amount of hatred toward child rapists.

Having kids of my own, I'm there with you. Anyone who harms a child are below scum. As far as the JC movies go, I probably will be able to watch them still, only because I've seen them enough before knowing this info. I've never seen any of Polanski's films because of what he did though.

Funny, I kind of mentioned my own dislike over something else horror related in the "Hardest Films to Watch" thread.
Is it weird that it's hard for me to watch the Twilight Zone movie ever since I researched, and then saw the footage of, Vic Morrow's death. I like all the parts of the film, but I usually find myself skipping through that segment because it bothers me a lot that it happened and that Landis still got the short into the film.

I may have seen parts of the Twilight Zone movie on tv...not sure...but my love for the original series is such that I was never interested in seeing remakes of classic episodes. I feel the same way about reboots...I am perfectly willing to accept the bad special effects of an old movie...just make a sequel. Then again, I'm a guy who thinks that Flash Gordon is perfect, so what the hell do I know? While I knew that there were deaths on scene of the Twilight Zone movie, I never knew about the kids and the court case until now.

Since The Monster Squad has been brought up a few times...

That is probably my #2 favorite movie of all time. For some reason I always forget to list it with horror movies, though. I guess I never think of it as an actual horror movie, even though it is a masterpiece. I don't know if anyone would remember, but my last avatar was "Wolfman's Got Nards!"

It will definitely get a pre-Halloween viewing (or maybe Halloween night like last year).

The Monster Squad is a favourite of mine as well. I'm amazed at some of the stuff they got away with in that film. They swear, lots of gay slurs, peeping toms, ect

They probably wouldn't get away with that stuff these days.

Attack The Block is the closet thing to The Monster Squad these days

Just reminded me about how hot that older sister was.

Has anyone heard anything about Dracula for one of the network stations? I'm expecting a fail but there's so much that can be done with those characters its insane.

I tend to try to separate an artist's work from their personal lives. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to read Lovecraft or Poe, which is unacceptable. For instance, I know that Mel Gibson has a LOT of personal problems, but I still think that he's a great actor and watch his films. I still watch Polanski's movies because they're good, but I'm certainly not excusing his past actions.

I don't know what I'm gonna watch this year. AMC has some pretty good stuff on.

I have a suggestion for people. If you can find it, watch Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon. It's an anime film and a creepy mind-**** of a movie. Sort of like Hitchcock, but creepy and more surreal.

I don't have a set plan for movies I will be watching in September/October, but I know for sure I will be watching The Monster Squad, Trick r Treat, and Hocus Pocus. I will definitely mix in some Netflix (and maybe Redbox) movies, as well as some of my own DVDs. I just know those three will be getting watched.

Next bout of horror movies i'll be viewing:

Intruder
Blood Rage
The Kindred
Death Spa

I own it actually but I haven't watched it again since I bought it like 13-14 years ago.:o

The Walking Dead and American Horror Story come back this October so that should be fun too.

Despite the fact that I think that The Walking Dead just keeps getting worse...season 3 was about 85% filler...I've watched enough to be committed.

American Horror Story is another thing entirely. I loved the first season (the only thing I'd change is the needless Black Dahlia filler). I HATED season 2. In fact, I stopped watching about midway through. Look, an insane asylum! With nazis! And aliens! And a slasher killer! And the angel of death! It just seemed to be throwing everything at the wall. Personally, I was really hoping for season 2 to follow Jessica Lange raising the antichrist type kid from season 1. I haven't even bothered to watch the promos for season 3 and won't watch the first episode unless nothing else is on.

I haven't watched any promos, but I will watch the show. I agree that season 2 tried to do way too much, but I MOSTLY enjoyed the ride. I guess the up side is that each season starts fresh, so if you hated 2, you may still love 3.

youtube has available in full and uncut Blood Rage and Nightmare (aka Nightmares In A Damaged Brain). Those two have proven really hard to find, so im stoked to finally check them out.

I actually didn't see Monster Squad until this year. I enjoyed it very much. However, had I seen it, say 10+ years ago, as a kid, it would probably be my favorite movie.
