So far I'm about halfway through Crystal Lake memories it feels like an add on from His name was Jason, and actually includes a lot of footage and interviews from that documentary which is one of my faves so far it's a fantastic documentary, can't wait to finish it.

I'm up to Friday the 13th Part 3 and I must say at first I did feel a little cheated that stuff was taken from my Name Was Jason but its such a fantastic watch you don't care. There is also extra interview footage that I don't think made it onto that DVD and new interviews with other people like writer Ron Kurz etc. Definitely think it was money well spent.

Oh, it happened all right. I think about it everyday. :csad:

And I own it. :csad:

Haha you and me both.

H20 was such a good ending, why did they ruin that? I mean we had closure. Not only did Resurrection mess that up, it killed all links save Laurie's son which it should have followed up on, but left Michael alive at the end to which we'll likely never get another sequel to.

To be fair, the first season played that game too.

But at least everything they threw at the wall in season 1 involved ghosts in that house. Season 2 was just...NAZIS! ALIENS! SLASHER KILLER! NOW HERE'S A DEMON! It was just too much. What I want is ONE Horror idea per season, given a full season to develop. Like I said, they could have done that by continuing the story from season 1, but leaving the house and its inhabitants behind.

Well its that time of the year. the time of year when I watch some of my guilty favorite B Horror films.

Watching this week at some point one of my top favorites.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space. :woot:

So has anyone seen The Tall Man with Jessica Biel?

I did sometime last year. It's not so much a horror movie as a thriller/mystery. I thought it was better than the slamming it got but it's not Oscar material either.

I've been meaning to watch The Tall Man since it's on. Netflix I always just end up watching something else.

I liked The Tall Man. Sure...it wasn't winning any Oscars...but it was much better than your average slasher or whatever. I can appreciate when the filmmakers actually TRY (which is seemingly quite rare).

With everyone watching horror movies this month due to Halloween, I was curious if any of you are going to throw some Tales From the Crypt episodes into the mix.

I love that show, minus the last season which was fairly weak.

Tales From the Crypt is one of my favorite shows of all time. I give it a watch once a year around Halloween. I genuinely enjoy all of the season although the last 2 are where it had more duds than previous seasons.

Hell, I even liked the cartoon spin-off, Tales From the Crypt Keeper.

Yeah, I also used to watch the cartoons and found them to be enjoyable. I'm not sure if my wife and I are going to bust out some TFtC or put on a movie. Decisions...decisions...

Adding in some tales episodes sounds like a great idea, I may just do that.

I bought Fright Night 2: New Blood yesterday. Minor spoilers below...

Finished watching it this morning. I don't recommend it. It was garbage. It was basically a remake of the original Fright Night (which has already been remade with the Colin Farrell film). Why they called it Fright Night 2 is beyond me.

Jamie Murray takes over the vampire duties this time. If anything they should've remade the original Fright Night 2 that did feature a female vampire. Anyway, Murray was sexy though not as hot as I thought she was going to be. Maybe the movie's awfulness diminished her hotness for me.

The only upgrades I saw was that this time Peter Vincent is the host of a Ghost Hunters style show called Fright Night and they tie Gerri's origins to Elizabeth Bathory. Those are the major tweaks that set it apart from the original Fright Night and Farrell's remake. Gerri's complete vampire form was also okay. I always like the pure black eye thing, even though I've seen it in 30 Days of Night and on Supernatural. The coolest thing that the film did was have Gerri use echolocation to find people she was hunting.

The unrated rating was poorly used as well. There was some gore but I think the action or horror scenes were often quickly cut away or shot so poorly that there wasn't much good use to it. Also there was only one full on nude actress, and that wasn't Murray. The rest of the film was mostly R-rated, despite having several scenes at a strip club. All of the strippers stayed clothed.

It sucks that Murray signed on to this crap. I thought she did okay. I liked the guy playing Vincent as well.

Overall the film left me scratching my head at the creative direction or misdirection that it took.

Disappointing but not unexpected.

Agreed. I knew when they pulled that crap of "Get a flash drive to see the trailer", it was less of them expecting a lot of people to pay for a trailer, but more of them fearing that the footage they saw would be terrible.

Well, when your remake comes out with massive promotion and utterly tanks at the box office, you might as well put zero effort into making the sequel worth watching....we'd hate to have a movie that built a cult following on DVD and was a respected film that had fans demanding more.

Worst part is, the original film is only available very limited on BluRay right now, the sequel to the original is even harder to find even on DVD, and it isn't even a bad sequel really. The remake, in my opinion, was alright, and I don't think it deserved to bomb.
I cannot stand the idea they didn't try to make this sequel work. Or remake, whatever it really is. I wish they'd tried to connect this to the remake, but obviously they didn't care.

I haven't seen it yet, but I hear that it is just a lazy rehash of the same story.
I Spit on Your Grave 2 was like that...down to even having a mentally challenged/slow bad guy being the first to rape the girl.

There's no excuse for it. I don't ask that you change the world...just that you put ome effort into giving us something we can sink our teeth into.

I haven't either, I was mostly going off of what was posted above. I really had no interest in it, and as I said, I'm a huge fan of the original films and really enjoyed the remake. But look at Curse of Chucky, so far it seems to be getting some really good reviews, and fans so far seem to generally enjoy it. And that is because they put effort into it. Granted, it probably was originally intended to go to theaters, but they made an effort and it worked out well. Surely they could have done this with the sequel/second remake thing.

My Halloween Horror Fest Day 2: Hatchet 3

I just watched 2 the other day (since I didn't like the first one at all when it came out). My biggest issue with this entire series is that it presented itself as a slasher film in virtually every respect, but the characters all seemed to think they were in a comedy. The film treats things with such levity that it is hard to ever really care about what is happening. Also, my overall opinion would be higher if the same actress had played te lead role in all three films...it is otherwise a seamless mega-movie. Since the movie never allows you the chance to care or get involved or even get scared, the only reason to watch these films is the gore...and oh, the gore! Thankfully, the over the top, absurdly bloody kills are some of the best in Horror in a long, long, LONG time! This is a series where you're rooting for the slasher killer the entire time, and he rarely disappoints with his kills.

I still have YET to see, a good NEW horror movie! This year has been quite poor in Horror Films, overall. There haven't been that many, but maybe it's for the best. EVIL DEAD was OK and so was THE CONJURING, but nothing great. Last year, I kinda enjoyed SINISTER.

I hope to finally see a very good horror again in the future that has it all: good story, good acting, a less overused plot and sg more original (I'm not talking original as in Cabin in the Woods-type of cr@p!). But I doubt there will be one, it seems that the era of good horrors is long gone and all you get today is these awful horrors with same cliche, same story, bad acting, bad music, stuff that doesn't even make you jump of your seat. SO, the question is, are there any upcoming movies that I should look forward to for 2014?

Also what were ur fav. movies in the past 2-3 years?

The most recent ones I saw was Evil Dead, Maniac and Hatchet III. The last 2 were just great. Maniac was a bit of a mind**** as well, adding to the feel of it. One of the best films I've seen all year.

And I saw the Room.

In both box office and quality, I think this year has been the best in awhile. Stoker, Antiviral, Magic Magic, The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, Errors of the Human Body and Maniac were all great (the last two a bit less than the others) and tried something a little different. Others, like The Seasoning House, Jug Face, American Mary, John Dies at the End, Excision and a few others also tried something a bit different from the norm, but in my opinion were less successful in their attempts.

If I had to list my favorites from the past few years (off the top of my head in no order), it'd be...
Stoker, Antiviral, Magic Magic, Sound of my Voice, Detention, Lovely Molly, Cabin in the Woods, Let Me In (the Swedish film it's based on is called Let The Right One In, and may be the best vampire movie ever) and Piranha 3D (granted, more a comedy than Horror).
