what's left to do besides make Sidney into the new Ghostface?

personally, i think they should have let Jill get away with killing everyone and ended it there.
I don't know. They didn't provide any specifics beyond suggesting they want to do one last movie to finish it off. I wouldn't blame them for turning Sydney into the new Ghostface after all the **** she's been through. I'd go crazy too.

Weinstein said that he's urging his brother Bob, who heads Dimension Films, to make "Scream 5" happen. "Everyone lived in ‘Scream 4," he said. "I'm begging him to do the movie and just end it. We've milked that cow."
IndieWire

So...he admits that they've milked the cow dry...yet he is pushing for another one? Why can't it just be over now? Is there some reason why I have to actually see them die? If there is, if one of the good guys survives, does that mean we need a Scream 6 so we can watch that one die? That is really stupid reasoning to make a sequel that few seem to want, given that Scream 4 is by far the lowest grossing movie in the franchise, making less than HALF the domestic money than the previous lowest in the franchise.

F13 was sent back to Paramount as part of a deal to to buy into Chris Nolan's next film.

You've just validated my point. I said they have other irons in the fir, in other words other projects they feel will make major bucks rather than just a quick profit.

Chucky is a slasher icon...straight to video reboot. If they thought money could be made in theaters, it would be in theaters.

And that's Chucky not Jason or Freddy, which as I pointed out and proved are still profitable it's there in the recent numbers. Like I said it's the studio they are (or were in Jason's case) that's the problem. Look at WBs record getting films off the ground in the first place, biggest case in point Superman.

Yeah, I personally loved Scream 4, but I think we needed Sydney to die and Jill get away with it. I'm fine with the rest of the cast returning but Jill living a lie and possibly being stalked by a new Ghostface would have been great, especially if it was Hayden Panettiere's character either gone crazy or stalking Jill and making her live the nightmare herself. Or it could have been Sydney herself, not dead from before. Something like that.

I loved Scream 4 thought it was much better than 2 or 3. Personally though I was hoping its success would lead the Weinstein's to green light Halloween 3D.

I just made this poster. Not sure if Jaws counts as a "horror movie" per se, but I wanted to show you guys anyway.

Hope you like it! :)

Love it great work

And yes Jaws is definitely a horror movie.

I will always consider it an action adventure with horror elements, and I agree great work on the poster.

I watched 'The Collection' last night and despite the club scene being really f'n stupid, I enjoyed the rest.

I've only seen Josh Stewart in 'The Collector' and 'The Dark Knight Rises' but he seems like a cool guy and is quite a good actor.

He's got a movie coming out (which he also directed) called 'The Hunted'. Although it is the dreaded found footage, it seems quite decent.

Forgot to mention this...

My Halloween Horror Marathon Day 3: Stranded

Christian Slater is in charge of a small crew drilling for minerals on the moon...and of course they get stranded...while a bacteria they find tries to kill them. Some of it is a bit absurd (a subplot of sorts is that one guy is an alcoholic and always drinking...um...on the moon????) but once you get over the B-movie-ness of it all, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. That's not to say that it's good, just not a waste of an hour or two.

EDIT: Oh...and I forgot to mention that a scene near the end involves a coin flip. Slater had a quarter, and they flipped it to decide what to do. Again...a quarter...on the moon...where there are no stores. Some of it is just silly.

I'm going to check out Irish horror movie Dark Touch this weekend. The film has gotten good reviews. Like Carrie it features a psychic girl but its a very different movie apparently.

i liked The Collector. probably wouldn't have liked it if someone other than Josh Stewart had played the pseudo-protagonist.

Kane Hodder's look as Jason in TNB is above and beyond the best look Jason's ever had IMO.

Out of the 4 movies that Kane Hodder played Jason, TNB had the best look. However, out of the entire franchise, I like the look of Jason in The Final Chapter best.

TNB's look was awesome. JGH had a pretty nice look, for you know, the five minutes that we actually saw it for.

I'm not totally against the found footage myself simply because the movie series probably needs to try something else in the modern day that doesn't involve Jason going to Manhattan or Outer Space. However, as some have said how the hell would it even work? You can't really have a dozen cameras or one person filming the whole thing. I think if they do want to do found footage maybe just have a part of the movie filmed that way like when they did the Game Mode scene in Doom or something.

If they're insistent on it then they'll find a way to do it but I'd rather they just did another entry that will most likely be in 3D.

Whatever they choose to do just please get Derek Mears back.

I'm not totally against found footage movies either. I actually quite enjoyed Blair Witch Project and the Paranormal Activity movies. However I don't see how it would work for a Friday The 13th movie.

The only way I can see it working is if it's done like a cross between "found footage" and "standard footage" (if the second term is even an actual term). Kinda like how Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon was a cross between a regular movie and a documentary.

I had an idea for a fan fiction story where a group of film students are following a group of paranormal investigators, making a documentary on the paranormal & paranormal investigation for class. The paranormal investigators are investigating The Legend Of Crystal Lake. Then Jason shows up and starts killing them off one by one. Then in the movie, they split the footage up between what the characters shot, and what the film makers shot.

But last I heard, on the Friday The 13th thread, they had scrapped the "found footage" idea. But maybe some executive at Paramount decided to resurrect it since then.

Jason's look in JGTH was interesting with his flesh growing over the straps and the edges of the mask. But I always preferred human Jason to Zombie Jason. And the best human Jason, IMO, was always from The Final Chapter.

Same here.

I found Land to be enjoyable but not up to par with his first three zombie films.

I just watched Carpenter's Prince of Darkness last night(haven't seen it since I was real young)and really liked it. When I was younger I found the movie to be boring for some reason, but now that I'm older I found the pacing to be pretty good. I love how a lot of Carpenter's films are finally coming out on Blu-ray. Body Bags and In the Mouth of Madness are going to be out in the next few months.
Yeah I love PoD and its highly influenced by Hammers Quatermass films. Quatermass and the Pit being the best. The FX are cheesy and its a little talky but the bare bones of the movie are insanely awesome.

I didn't mind Diary that much but Survival is my least favorite. I really wish GR would have gotten his zombie war epic out though. To be honest I wish he would do another Creepshow or bring back Tales from the Darkside.

I hope they don't go with it myself but if they do I'm sure I'll watch it. I just don't get how you do it at all.

I've been really bad with my commitment to watching a horror movie every day in October. I'll watching a lot this weekend to make up for it. It's actually kinda difficult to watch a movie every day. I'm so busy with everything else.

I figured that would be my issue as well. I expect it to become more of a problem in the next few weeks once I start a second job. Until then, 4 days down, 27 to go.

1. Island of Lost Souls
2. Stage Fright
3. Drive In Massacre Zombieland
4. Stir of Echoes & Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

Any truly terror movies out there? Not slasher but mystery/thriller/horror. Good horror movies?

The Exorcist
The Ring
I know you don't want a slasher, but Halloween 78 and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are truly terrifying films.
I think Saw 1 is truly terrifying.
The Shining

Huh didn't realize we have a horror thread. Cool beans.
