The Horror Thread - Part 2

Watched Stephen King's IT last night. Tim Curry's performance as Pennywise The Clown still creeps me out. And clowns don't generally bother me.

For my other Halloween viewing pleasures, I'm about half way through Season 4 or Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Granted that's more action/adventure than horror, but there are horror elements to that show. It could certainly scare some very young children anyway.

Later tonight I think I might watch John Carpenter's The Thing. I just bought a second hand copy of it from a used CD/DVD store. It's a "special edition", so I'm hoping for some cool special features.

So, are any of you going to see Carrie? It has Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore in it, so I am duty bound to watch, that's my rule.
I feel like I've seen the whole movie twice now from the trailers alone. Also, I can't buy Moretz as a social outcast.

OOPS...forgot to post this...

My Halloween Horror Marathon Day 4: Resolution
This is a great indie film about a guy whose best friend is a drug addict. He decides to have a weeklong intervention in hopes of talking the guy into going into rehab. There is more to it, but I don't want to spoil it. WATCH THIS MOVIE! I hate that I can't discuss this film with other Horror fans, because this is one of those films where analyzing and discussing it after can change your perceptions of it.

My Halloween Horror Marathon Day 5: Gravity
Okay...yeah...not Horror...but Horror sites are covering it and it is tense as hell! This movie speeds through. The plot kicks in quickly and it is a desperate struggle to survive for the rest of the film, and you're on the edge of your seat watching it go down. It is needlessly cheesy at times...but the strength here is that it is GORGEOUS. You have to see this in IMAX 3D (I usually think that's a rip-off, but it really does work very well with this film)! I'm not sure that I liked it as much as the critics seem to...but it's certainly a very well made movie that deserves to be seen.

31 Days of Horror Marathon

Day 1: The Frighteners - 7.5/10
Day 2: Maniac Cop - 7/10
Day 3: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane - 5.5/10
Day 4: Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell - 7/10
Day 5: Prince of Darkness - 8/10

Day five saw Pontypool and Superstition '82. It was an okay day. Might throw something on before midnight to say I still saw it today. Not every day's gonna be a good one, I guess.

Watched "The Monster Squad" for the first time ever last night. Wow, have I missed out on this movie.

I miss the days when Vampires were scary. 30 Days of Night was pretty good though.
It was, but I agree with you. I miss the atmosphere in the old vamp movies too, the mystery that came along with the horror! I'm really tired of all these post-apocalyptic vamp movies.

I like that the Nightmare films have much more loveable characters than all the other horror franchises, second would be Scream.
My favorite remains the first movie, I must say, it was truly great executed.

.
This movie gave me the creeps when I was a kid, it is a solid horror imo and Pennywise was the scariest clown.

Day 5: Prince of Darkness - 8/10
I really enjoyed that one, Carpenter @ his best!

Watched Trick 'r Treat last night with the girlfriend, first time I've watched it since I bought it in 2009. She loved it, and funnily enough was dreaming about protecting sweets from trick or treaters last night ha ha.

I was thinking last night too what are some horror films people would like to see a remake of?

For me personally I'd like remakes of both the Prowler and The Burning as I liked the idea behind both but didn't really enjoy either film.

Any news on IT remake?

Last I heard was that it was getting split into two parts like a year ago so there is a screenplay rewrite.

I'd love to see Sleepaway Camp remade, the twist at the end would be fun to see if they do the same thing or change it. And it's murder mystery style would be nice to see again.

I was interested in rob zombies blob but that's never happening and the first remake of the blob is pretty awesome.

I watched Dark Touch.

The film was like Carrie except the girl of a teenage telekinetic\telepathic girl abused by her religious Mom you have a pre-teen telekinetic\telepathic girl abused by her parents.

The fact the kids are younger in this movie than in Carrie makes it even worst. I was surprised how gory and brutal this film is.

The movie features cast members from Game Of Thrones which is also shot in Ireland. The actors who play Rickon Stark and Lord Beric Dondarrion I recognized.

Wolfman's Got Nards :woot:

Yeah the 80s version of the Blob us quality but I wouldn't wanna go anywhere near a Rob Zombie film again **shudders**

In Rob Zombie's Blob, I imagine that at one point the Blob would rape a woman.

Is it bad I can go with that? Lol zombie would of had the scene play out 50% longer than it should.

I feel rob zombie just needs someone else writing and making characters for him lol

I'd imagine that Sherri Moon Zombie would play everyone in The Blob, including the Blob.

Zombie is going to need a huge change in his filming style to even have horror fans be ok with him in the genre.

He can make a horror a scene, I love the first 15minutes in H2 I think it's amazing, but he ruined the whole thing by making it a dream. But that scene in the hospital is **** I just love that part of the movie... The rest of the movie well it's pretty different. Idk why I like zombies H2 so much when all in all it's not a true halloween movie just doesn't feel like one. And his characters are just so weird in every movie but I like H2 for some reason maybe just cause I love the look of hobo Michael and love the opening scene.

Oh and margot kidder as the therapist that's a joke in it's self lol

Both the Evil Dead and the remake had a tree rape a woman so the Blob doing so is not far off in concept. Whether it would be appropriate is of course another matter on how it's depicted.

I don't mind Zombie. There's good and bad in his work but I do think he has a great eye. Maybe the stories are lacking but I do like his visuals and some of his ideas. I actually think he would have done a good 50's rockabilly movie about The Blob.

I guess he's doing the hockey movie next. Its funny because everyone and their mother knows its going to be about the violence and rock star attitude of the 70's but the NHL is clearly trying to shed that image right now. I pray that its awesome and makes the NHL change its mind.

HEADS UP... Horror of Dracula comes on TCM next Friday at 8!!

Yeah, but Zombie usually has inappropriate rape scenes. His alternate scene in Halloween was horrid. How could he possibly think that, that scene was better?

If Zombie does it then I doubt it would be all that great regardless of that.

I am excited to see how he tells the story of the broad street bullies I work in Philly and the bullies still get love everywhere I think the city of Philly will love the story being told, it was a crazy team to watch.

I kind of hate that he won't make the blob I think we need more 50s style sci fi horro I missed that, grant it my dream movie is a giant spider movie done in the style of 50s sci fi. Not eight legged freaks lol

If rob zombie could find a good plot to a movie and not **** it up I think he can film horror he has a nack for good scenes not good story, the rape scene in halloween was random and had no reason being there but if you watch it as one scene it's pretty well shot IMO.

What makes me mad about zombie is his randomness in the commentary for H2 he answered the question about the White Horse thing so stupidly if I'm correct he says " I was on my way to film and hear about it on the radio and said that works" it was so random and not even in hi script that I ask why put it in, oh to get your wife in movie that's right lol

For me watch the last hour of zombies halloween and the first 15minutes of the sequal and that's all the zombie I need that would of been a good movie if it had been one.
