For those of you who haven't seen it yet...the remake of Maniac just hit instant streaming on Netflix. It's definitely worth a watch!

Noticed that earlier. I'm probably going to check it out later tonight or tomorrow, I've heard nothing but good things about it so far.

Yeah It's a great horror remake and I actually prefer it to the original in most parts...and that soundtrack is incredible.

For the love of god, people...watch RESOLUTION. I think it might be my favorite movie of 2013. It's on Netflix streaming...it's just a really good Horror movie with drama and (surprisingly) laughs. Support indie filmmakers who make quality movies!

Just watched Child's Play 2. Not a bad sequel, although it is a huge stretch as to how Chucky came back. Probably will give Part 3 a watch tomorrow if I get the chance.

Slash from Guns N Roses produced a Horror movie...

Nothing Left To Fear is getting savaged by the critics...but you know...it really isn't any worse than Mama, The Last Exorcism 2, The Possession or any number of other crappy, similar movies that are made by big studios. Keep in mind, this is not to say that it is good, it certainly is not.

It actually starts off pretty decent. The family seems likable enough...Anne Heche is a giggling preacher's wife as they relocate to a church in the middle of nowhere. The two daughters look enough like siblings to me, and the family seems like a family. There's a really slow build to nowhere, as the scares end up being pretty bland. It ends up being more of the same herky jerky suddenly fast, quick change in position, black eyes possession that we've seen a thousand times before. Unintentionally, the movie gets darn near hilarious near the end for a few scenes. One would normally knock it points for that, but it actually raised my entertainment level, even though it was the opposite reaction than what they hoped for.

I can't recommend this movie...but for those of you who add Haunting in Connecticut 2, The Devil Inside etc to your Netflix...you might as well add this as well.

Basically, after being burned to a crisp in the first movie, Chucky's charred body is taken back to the Good Guys Doll Factory in part 2 cleaned up & given a new body covering, then after an accident at the factory Chucky is reanimated & then the fun begins.

There was a twist? Yeah...it was REALLY obvious.

Of course, it was cliche and predictable and boring...but it was no more so than Mama, The Possession, Haunting in Connecticut 2, The Last Exorcism 2 etc. So why are big studios given a pass and a new producer not? Shouldn't the big studios and more experienced people be held to a higher standard? I hate to defend this movie...it sucks...but it is no worse than movies that major studios put in theaters.

It matters because guitar player Slash's film is being held to a higher standard than Mama, a movie which was a massive hit and had all the resources of Hollywood behind it. I think that committing these sins (generic effects, boring story etc) is worse when all the advantages of a major studio commit them.

Again...I'm not defending the movie. People should ONLY watch this movie if they watch stuff like Mama, Haunting in Connecticut 2 etc.

It's a fictitious standard to begin with, Hollywood films? indie films? they all make sh** films from time to time equally. Be damned about what others think about what standard they give a film. I love Halloween III and people always put that standard of it being terrible just because there was no Michael Myers, and yet I don't care.

I get what you're saying...and to an extent I agree. For instance, there's a smaller studio film this year called The Demented (zombie film...Sara Butler from I Spit On Your Grave is in it). That movie not only was a generic zombie film...but the editing was so bad and careless that...for instance...the same zombie broke through the same window twice within one minute in a hallway...another scene had a character scream and turn to run, then it showed zombies, then it showed her in the same spot, screaming and turning to run. That stuff is UNFORGIVABLE because all it takes is someone watching the freaking movie and cutting it properly.

But yeah...while I won't endorse a bad indie film...I will have more hatred for an equally generic and boring major studio film.

I hear 3 is even more ridiculous, but I don't get what they achieved by not just removing whatever survived of his circuitry or actually looked to see that Chucky had become somewhat organic. It just seemed to take an incredible stretch of my imagination, and I can believe in rubber suit monsters in Godzilla films and Freddy Kreuger being resurrected by a dog peeing fire.

I'll definitely give that one a watch, but in regards to supporting indie filmmakers, the actual good ones are incredibly hard to find and I get tired of wasting my time on **** movies, trying to find just one that is actually really good. I still branch out every now and again, but I wait to hear recommendations from people I share a similar taste in horror with.

Yeah, there are obviously a lot of trash indies out there as well. It baffles me when an indie filmmaker will just make a no-budget version of the same cliche crap we see all the time (well, like Slash's movie...which as I mentioned above, is a crappy movie). Wow...low budget zombies, never seen that before. I think that the strength of the indies is when they reach beyond the norm...to try something outside the box. Occasionally you'll get some amazing performance from an unknown actor (like in last year's Lovely Molly, an otherwise by the numbers film starring a first time actress that absolutely knocked it out the park with a really powerful performance!) or they'll deconstruct some aspect of movies or go against your expectations. Of course, in order to find these movies, I end up watching A LOT of crap.

it was purposely ludicrous; as is the idea of a good guy doll being strong enough to kill anyone. don't overthink it any more than you would Gremlins 2.

So I bought all 7 seasons of Tales from the Crypt. I've honestly never watched the show before, is it worth the $70 I paid for the whole thing?

Off the top of my head I would have say Cube was a nice surprise when I came across that one quite a few years back. Lovely Molly was a pretty good one too, I was a tad bit confused by the deer thing at the end, I only watched it once and might need to give it a second go. There was one movie you recently recommended that I watched two nights ago that was good, it involved a guy moving into his mother's old house and some animal thing is going after him.

Yes! First off, you pretty much only paid $10 a season which is a lot cheaper than most seasons on sale.

Second, it's got a lot of great episodes with a lot of actors you'll recognize. It's such a fun show and I've always loved the opening with the Danny Elfman theme. Only thing is that the final season is definitely the weakest, some of those tales in season 7 are pretty crappy.

I have them all on DVD but would be willing to rebuy on Blu-ray if the transfers were good enough.
