The Horror Thread - Part 7

Upgrading my score of The Void from 7.5 to 8.5 out of 10 I thought it was great.

Haha sorry if I felt like I was going off on one the film just really disappointed me.

Nope no worries haha didn’t feel like that, just saying sorry you didn’t enjoy it like I did

Any of you guys see Zombie's 31? I loved the way it looked, but his scripts are just terrible. I wish he'd get himself a writer.

Garbage from top to bottom. Still can't believe sweet Robert directed The Devil's Rejects. Still one of the best horror flicks of the past 2 decades IMO. Grim and affecting. Everything else he's done, is complete trash. But 31 is the worst of them all. Other than a good Richard Brake performance, it has nothing.

So got the films I ordered today, watched Get Out tonight. Loved it 9 out of 10. Something fresh and new. Great stuff.

I need to watch Get Out, might see if I can convince the wife to watch it tonight.

The Void is my least favorite horror film of the year so far. Its unbearably dull.

It's pretty easy to predict, but I enjoyed the heck out of it.
I think because I heard so much positivity from people and critics I went in expecting the next horror masterpiece and it didn’t meet that expectation for me but it was an entertaining film.

I recently rewatched the original Black Christmas. Still gives me chills to this day. One of the best thriller/slashers ever made.

He REALLY needs to stop focusing so much on his wife. She doesn't have to be a main character in EVERYTHING.

Yes. 31 probably wouldn’t have been a masterpiece no matter what he did, but had Meg Foster been the main character, it’d have made a world of difference.

Hey y'all, Raw is now on Netflix. Its bonkers.

Creep was pretty disappointing. And for anyone thinking about checking out XX, skip it.

Ordered a region free BD copy of The Evil Dead remake extended cut. Hope it's still entertaining.

Just watched Gerald's Game on Netflix. It's the best Stephen King adaptation since It!

No seriously...it's good and woo boy...as it got close to the end...the tension was great. Good acting...well developed characters...it doesn't get boring even though most of it takes place in one room. It's definitely worth watching.

I HATED the very end though. It was just not needed to tell the story being told...and took the movie down a notch for me. I mean...am I missing something there??? The bad part is that my very last impression of the film is a very negative one...so that affects my overall enjoyment of the film.

The ending of Gerald's Game is awful. It is verbatim the ending of the book. They changed plenty throughout the rest of the movie and made it stronger, but then the absolute worst part of the book they kept. Maddening.

Anyone catchCult of Chucky? I enjoyed it, but thought it was a step down from Curse. The explanation for the “cult” was awful but the rest wasn’t too bad. Hoping this is the middle of a trilogy and they make one more to finish things off.

I watched the original Shutter last night. That was sooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

Finally got round to 'The Void' this week, on the whole, pretty decent, good atmosphere and loved the practical effects reliance over any heavy CGI. Had a very Hellraiser feel interspersed with old school Carpenter/The Thing vibe.

Nothing revolutionary but enjoyable all the same. 7/10.

I really enjoyed Gerald’s Game. I was actually really frightened of the moon guy.
