The Horror Thread

On the note of the Jacob's ladder remake, slashfilm quotes one of the producers as saying the film is intended to be "something more akin to an homage."

Yeah.

They just can't get the impact of the revelation at the end. Might as well just make it as entertaining with the concept and premise as they can.

It's been years since I've seen Jacob's Ladder but I always thought of it more of a psychological drama than a horror...

It had horror elements.

Like a monster raping his girlfriend at a party.
Being wheeled through a mental asylum with limbs everywhere and a creature with no eyes drilling into his skull.

Oh yeah, absolutely. I should have said "a psychological drama... with some really, really ****ed up parts." :hehe:

I don't if they've been mentioned before, but Frank Henenlotter's "Basket Case" and especially "Brain Damage", I think have a place in this thread.

I liked Basket Case 2 as well. Somehow I never saw the third one.

I want to see the first Basket Case. Saw a review from Cinemassacre and it looks very amusing.

You all need to buy this, then.

You won't regret it. What you need to do is import it from Amazon.co.uk. A full $20 cheaper, even with shipping, and it's region free. Don't hesitate on this one.

This thread actually gave me the sudden urge to go re-watch the original on dvd, have it in right now. :)

And that art work on the trilogy set is awesome.

One of the reasons I imported it myself. I was about to buy the trilogy on dvd not that they finally re-released The Progeny on dvd (those OOP prices were ridiculous), but when I saw that set I knew I could wait a few more weeks and buy that.

I don't know I managed to never watch BASKET CASE . It's on my horror film bucket list.

Basket Case is amazing. A must see horror classic. Brain Damage is also quite good, you gotta watch that one too.

I remember seeing Basket Case years ago on HBO I think it was. Weird but comical movie. I have seen bits of the sequels too.

Best thing you can do is get some friends together and back to back to back the trilogy. A great, fun evening to be had doing that.

It is a pity that Gordon's House of Re-Animator film fell through the cracks. I really wanted to see a reanimated Dick Cheney.

That sounds like fun. Still need them to release Bride and Beyond on blu-ray already. I'm hoping it gets a treatment similar to that Basket Case set I have. I don't mind double dipping at that point.
