The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 & 2

I would say that the improvement that was made was that since we never really know how Katniss is exactly feeling or thinking like in the books, she doesn't feel as lame, useless, or less interesting in the film.

The real sad part is the series was set up for an epic finale, it's almost anticlimactic we have to have two films for one story.

The books don't have an epic finale anyway. It's a grim finale.

I wasn't bored like my friends were. I actually enjoyed it despite the fact that it was nothing but set-up.

Although the lack of any real action sequence did kinda bother me. I mean the rebels spent almost the entire film carrying weapons and yet in the end...not a single shot was fired.

I guess they just like to hold em. :shrugs:

Part II better be EPIC.

Catching Fire was a better book than Mockingjay, I think that relationship will reflect in the movies too. The ending isn't a 'conventional' Hollywood ending either, some people will walk out disappointed.

Well Maybe I'm in the minority but I love the fact that they split the films. After all is said and done, I love having all of the fleshed out content that I can just watch on blu ray back to back later. Ever since Kill Bill I never minded paying to see a "part 1" one year, and a "part 2" the next year.

Especially for a franchise that I love, its awesome having new films and new content to see every year, and it actually be FANTASTIC. If these films or the Harry Potter films, Hobbit films etc were trash, then I would have a problem with it. Each one has been completely enjoyable.

Mockingjay Pt 1 was friggin awesome, it felt well paced, fleshed out and I don't have any complaints. I prefer things being "drawn out" or fleshed out more, over crammed and rushed. I can't believe I'm saying this because I'm not a huge fan of TV.

Jennifer Lawrence!!! :bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

Another Oscar-worthy performance God she is AMAZING!!!!!

This beautiful talented Goddess any do anything! Yes, she is indeed a Hollywood high-valued asset!

Absolutely loved Mockingjay Pt1. It was exactly what I was hoping for, dark and intense just like the book. Still can’t get over ‘Hanging Tree’. It was glorious, I almost cried. This scene alone is worth the money. This, the dam and tree climbing scenes were all brilliant and probably my favourite parts of the movie (besides the shocking/terrifying ending - especially for non-book readers). I'm glad they made it into two parts.

Can't wait for Part 2.

So what's with all the action shown in the trailer? The dam scene where all the rebels are running and tons of water is going over the spillway, the shot of Katniss running inside a building that appears to be getting bombed, her shooting down the ship with the explosive arrow etc. I mean there has to be some action sequences or those trailers had some Grade A trickery in them.

Francis Lawrence could done action better. He is just not a big action-director I guess.

Did anyone enjoy all of the books?

I actually despised Catching Fire and Mockingjay, which is why I was surprised I like the second film.

Victor Domashev hacked the studios computers & edited fake trailers for Part 1 that featured footage from Part 2 so that people can be tricked into seeing Part 1 :wow:

Don't really get the action complaints. I never watched the first 2 films and thought "wow, that was action packed!!"

Everything you mentioned, yeah...thats pretty much it. There was one more sequence in the woods but I wouldn't classify it as an "action sequence".

That scene in the trailer when Gale and Katniss fire at the bombers? Yeah, that's the only time they fire their weapons in the entire movie.

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows trailers did the same thing. They showed alot the action from part 2 in the promotion for part 1. Like I said before, I loved the Harry Potter movies, but Deathly Hallows Part 1 was like 2 hours and a half of filler and set up, nothing really happened. The only thing really significant that happened was that Voldemort got the elder wand in the last two mins of the movie. Yet, critics and fans gave that movie a pass. So I am wondering why people are knocking this but weren't out raged at Harry Potter?

For a film that's supposably the beginning of a war, with characters carrying around guns and crossbows, there was a lot more walking and talking than most had anticipated. Especially when the trailers suggested there were going to be some really cool action sequences.

But all the action scenes that were in the trailer were in the movie....

I'm confused.

This was wonderfully used in Part 1.

It speaks of repression and uprising, and builds up to a triumphant ending. Jennifer Lawrence isn't a great singer, but her voice works well here.

Just like the last 2 films and all 3 books...

When the trailer has a shot of Katniss and Gale shooting down a jet theres an implication that its a short scene of a much bigger and maybe action packed scene. That's what trailers do, tease you and give you a taste of what's to come.

When you find out in the movie that that is literally the entire action sequence, people are going to be disappointed.

No different than those people b**ching about the Godzilla trailers when in actuality his screen time was limited.

So when does part 2 come out? In the summer of 2015 or Fall 2015?
