That's pretty much what this is. One step away from being a remake if it weren't based on a series of books.

I'll wait for a trailer to see if it will be worth the time. Just hope it's not as long as any of the BR films. Talk about movies that drag ass.

Everyone who has read those books must be incredibly biased. I don't think those stories are exactly like Battle Royale but just reading the synopsis alone screams BR to an extent.

I'm not even a huge BR fan either. I don't own them and have only watched them once. I don't have the urge to watch them again and as I said before the pacing for both films was terrible and it seemed like they would never end.

I'm not hating on this "The Hunger Games" film, I was just surprised how some of it is similar to BR. I wonder if that American BR remake will get jump started after this film comes out.

i finished the Hunger Games today. Going to try and start Book 2 of the trilogy tomorrow

i agree. after the first few chapters i said to myself 'this isn't no bella swann... and that's a good thing'.

i prefer strong female protagonists and Katniss definitely holds her own in the book.

she is actually my top choice because she resembles Katniss from the books she is ethnic just like katniss

I don't see her in the role, Katniss needs to be a slightly bigger name. Unfortunately im drawing a Blank. I wanted Cinna to be Tim Gunn at first but now that opinion has changed in my mind. Gary Oldman as Haymitch I think is perfect.

girls like moretz and saoirse are too white

and since M Night messed up the one franchise that should of been lead by minorities this is a chance to get it right

big name for supporting roles for sure but katniss needs to be an unknown

the girl posted above from Vamp Diaries I'd be ok with. The only casting suggestions i've really disliked so far are Fonseca and Moretz. Too old and too young respectively.

i've seen Pettyfer's name thrown out there for Peeta, but at 22 i wonder if he's too old. I cant remember if Peeta and Katniss were the same age in the books.

Kristen Chenowith as Effie I think could be great.

is katniss actually ethnic though? i know she's portrayed as dark hair, olive skinned, but aren't her mother and sister fair and blonde? i guess that'd mean her features derive more from her father?

among fans the choice for Katniss is Kaya-Scodelario(Skins,Moon) she is 19

also among fans the top choice for Peeta is Hunter Parrish(Weeds)

Her I can see better. Hunter would need to Bulk up though. Overall though I think you are right Project, an unknown is best. I still think Gary Oldman is perfect for Haymitch.
