The show was great when Anderson Cooper hosted it, particularly the first season. The only part of this game that's somewhat difficult to translate to a message board setting in my opinion is the physical aspect of the challenges.

I can understand that. However, with the magic of the webcam, the host can have the participants record themselves doing some physical challenges like... doing jumping jacks for example?
