The "I gotta rant about how horrible this movie is" thread

No matter what the people of the Hype say, I STILL hate these movies:

-Batman Begins

-Serenity

-Fantastic Four (that was the crappiest Dr. Doom I've ever seen)

-The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake

-The Pink Panther sequel/prequel/remake with Steve Martin

-the Assault on Precint 13 remake

-the Dawn of the Dead remake

-The Hills Have Eyes remake

-Hostel

-House of a 1000 Corpses

-The Devil's Rejects

-Reeker

-Creep

-Silent Hill

-the When a Stranger Calls remake

-the 2005 King Kong remake

-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

How many of those have you actually seen?

Edit: Be honest (Though I doubt you will)

All of them, except for "Reeker", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "When a Stranger Calls" and "Silent Hill".

Then how do you know?

I am a film aficionado and I go to filmn school, I can tell when a movie is bad.

That's just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I too am a film aficionado, I graduated from film school, and I work in the film industry...I still need to see a movie before I judge it.

Inside Man

I dont know if it was just because it was a lame film or because everybody said how amazing it was... It sucked :(

just by the list of the films he DISlikes, you can tell he's an idiot

I hate napoleon dynamite.

matrix Reloaded was loaded with pointless ****

King Kong took forever to get nowhere. (Length does not a good film make, Pete)

Spider-man 1 is the most overrated corn-fest that could have been a billion times better if some care was taken in crafting it. I really hate Raimi's careless and cartoony style. The second film works as an action/comedy/drama but fundamentally fails in some of the acting, and cheesy crap moments that make me wish he'd just stop with the B-movie homages.

I thought I'd make this thread for anyone out there whose had a passionate hatred for a film, but could not find a thread to rant about how horrible that movie was, here's your chance.

lol Thank You!

AVP.... oh my gawd. lol This is exactly why i thought Alien 3 and Predator 2 werent completely bad... it could get worse, many just couldnt imagine it. All of your interesting character levels has dropped into the negatives thanks to Paul W S Anderson.

The dumbest company move ive ever seen. Their franchises went down the tubes and instead of waking up, they dig themselves a bottomless pit by hiring some horror guy. And now what do they do? AVP2 helmed by some guys from an sfx house... are they braindead? WOW.

It needs a do over with another studio imo. The problem is fox sees Alien and Predator as horror films and theyll continue to fall short of Ridley Scotts depth and John Mctiernans tight form as long as they do as there are gutter standards for that genre now. If you seek out scifi, action and fantasy directors, you have a better shot at getting a better movie.

Honorable mentions are the star wars movies (yes even the older ones). Visually stunning, but I find them to be VERY overrated. This "bad is good" film making style isnt my cup of tea and Lucas is the King of it. However I care much less since it has nothing to do with my films like avp did :(

Catwoman also... shocking. If there was ever a female character that couldve kicked ass in a film it was her, and they sabotaged it.

I still got hate in my heart for Hostel.... and quite frankly anything that overrated bastard Tarantino is remotely involved with. Guy ****ing steals everything good in his films and thinks its okay just because he tells you were its from. No *******. Try something original. *****e.

AMEN! Kill Bill is the most overrated piece of garbage I have ever seen. Its a lifeless, soulless, pointless collage of other much better movies. Reminds me of Spy Hard or any other crappy spoof movie, but heres the difference: It takes itself seriously! BOOOOOOO!!! What a turd. Not even an hour and a half worth of plot spread as thin as humanly possible. The ultimate example of self indulgent style-over-any substance-whatsoever! Hate that movie! I hate Reservoir Dogs too! Same crap only more BORING! I do like Pulp Fiction though so Ill give the guy some credit. I know he can make movies, I just dont think he can write them. Unfortunately after I bring this up with anyone they lose all respect for me..

Lucy Liu: silly rabbit
Uma: Trix are for kids

BARF!

2001: A Space Odyssey.

Wow. The movie that somehow makes everyones Top 3 for greatest Sci-Fi film ever. HOW?! To be honest I don't even remember much about it because I saw it for the first/last time a few months ago. I just remember hating it with so much passion because of the hype shoved in my face going into it. I do remember that pointless mind-Fv(k of a light show at the end. I stand in firm in the belief that if you have to wikipedia a movie to understand the ENTIRE movie, someones job wasn't done.
I never liked 2001: A Space Odyssey either. The music is more memorable than the film's actual story/content, though the special effects are pretty good.

Other films I hate include King Arthur (the idea of Keira Knightley as a tough, ball busting warrior princess makes me laugh), Catwoman, Elektra, the Fantastic Four, Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets (granted, it was a crappy book to begin with), Drowning Mona (not a single funny moment in the entire film), Star Trek Nemesis, Terminator 3 (what the Hell were they thinking?!) the 2005 Fantastic Four and the entire Star Wars prequel trilogy (a three year old could have come up with a better storyline).

I really dislike these movies:

2001: A Space Odysee
Matrix Revolutions
Pulp Fiction (I don't care what anybody says about that)
Hellboy (I liked FF better than this, I still like Ron Perlman though)
Good Will Hunting
Everything from Kevin Smith except clerks and mallrats (want to see clerks 2)
A.I.
Superman 2 (Yes, I said it, never saw 3 and 4)
Dude Where's My Car
Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

Thats all for now.

Pirates of the Carribean : Dead Mans Chest...Ive held off on saying anything about this move simply for the sake that it seems so many enjoyed it and good for them. I dont want to rain on anybodies parade but the movie blew chunks. It had moments, mainly Nighy's performance, while the rest of it was a jumbled self absorbed rehash of the first movies funnier moments and action scenes. Even Depp who a find an amazing actor didnt work in the first half of the movie for me. I wont be seeing the third one in theatres, that's for sure.

To be honest i never thought winking at the audience was cool. That with Tarantinos lust for pointless gore typical of horror makes his films the last id watch.

**** **** **** Garden State which is one of the most pretentious pieces of excrement ever passed off as an art film.

That was indeed the worst, most evil and destructive movie of this decade. I don't think it's the "most pretentious" one though or even close. I mean, it's not NOT pretentious, but that wasn't the main problem at all. It's more how phony and shameless and inorganic it is, and how much it relies on all the easily controlled dumb $hits out there to rally around it.

While I do agree with you about Dr. Doom. I don't see how you can hate Batman Begins, Silent Hill, The Devil's Rejects, King Kong, The Hills Have Eyes, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake?

I understand people are entitled to their own opinions, but Jesus Christ man, Batman Begins is by far the best comic book film right next to V For Vendetta and Spider-Man 2.

Somehow I doubt you've actually seen the film.

I still haven't seen Superman Returns, but Bryan Singer hired/directed the actors and oversaw/partipated in the screenwriting.

What you say is basically a sugarcoating cop-out, atleast partially.

I can't stand all these dumbass remakes, all these cheesy horror movies people run to go see, then walk out saying "that sucked" why did you even bother??? Why can't they make good movies? All we get in the theather all year is 9 months of continous garbage...goes to show you that much of hollywood isn't that talanted and are there for all the wrong reasons...

He did a good job with the usual suspects and the x-men movies, he is a goo director...if what you say is all true then the WHOLE superman team F**ed it up!!

**** the original War of the Worlds. Boring. Effects were just plain horrible. Made in the wrong time.

**** Napolean Dynamite. Apart from the dance scene, the rest was just bad. It's way too overrated. Too random and and slow-paced. And I'm a patient person.

**** House of a 1000 Corpses. Shut it off 10 minutes into the film. Just couldn't stand to go through with the whole thing.

**** The Pink Panther. Never ever let Beyoncé act. Ever again. Never.

**** The Long Weekend. Horrible acting, horrible plot and horrible movie. Why did I waste my money on this crap?

**** Son of the Mask. I'm just gonna pretend that this movie was never made, kthx.

**** Elektra. Ninjas were boring. I mean, how can NINJAS be boring? It's just impossible. I was proven wrong, unfortunately.

I agree my friend...but one thing is missing:

**** Paul Anderson. :)

Oh, and I dislike LOTR and King Kong. Those are some lifeless, over-CGI'ed overlong, overmade snoozefests.

**** Fantastic Four
**** A History of Violence
**** **** **** Garden State which is one of the most pretentious pieces of excrement ever passed off as an art film.
And double **** Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If the words 'Cliff Notes' were included as a subtitle, I'd gotten what I expected. Instead, they gutted the book and told the jokes half-way, and made up some crap instead of telling MORE from the book. What a POS. Very disappointed.
And **** Life Aquatic, nothing more than an ode to when a filmmaker thinks anything he craps out is entertaining. WRONG! Wes, your movies are getting worse. Rushmore was great, but everything else has been downhill.

yes damnit! i hated all three LOTR movies, and i greatly disliked king kong. they were too long, and for no good reason. they could have easily cut an hour out of any of those movies and it wouldn't have mattered. i simply cannot understand the love for these movies. they look great, don't get me wrong, but they are hollow, for lack of a better word.

i disagree about garden state, though, i loved that movie. i think i kind of fell in love with natalie portman's character a little bit after i watched it.
