The trick with variant covers is to NOT go and buy them as soon as they come out unless you find someone on ebay who is really selling them cheap. Just wait a while and the variants will come down to a price close to regular issues or just a little more.

Yeah, that's true. I plan on doing that for ASM issue 600. I have the ROmita jr. and Alex Ross cover, but I want the Romita Sr. and Quesada variants.

The unneccesary hoopla over this issue was insane. I have the Romita cover....as it is Romita, though! My LCS guy actually held a copy of this book for me, knowing I loved Romita Sr.

The first print varients weren't even available at my shop... the guy said it was only available in the US, though I find that hard to swallow... I've heard that even the Romita cover goes for $20...

My local comic shop didn't have the first printing of the Obama cover. Only the second, and he held one for me when there were tones of people asking for it.
