I always thought that this cover had something...quite cool about it. It's defenitely not amazing, but it wasn't a bad cover either.

Looks like this thread will die soon enough with the current news...

:csad:

Though maybe I'll keep posting in memory of the greatness that Spider-Man IV could have been with Raimi...

Ooopsie, looks like more than just "drama" being played out:)

I think the powers that be just wanted to mess with Bat's countdown thread:)

Keep posting covers. It's a fun (and nostalgic) thing to do. Personally I didn't give a fig about the fourth movie (thought the third one was terrible!), but I DO click this thread every day to see the new cover.

^ Agreed! With extreme prejudice!

Aloha,
On the entire Comic Book based internet-Themanofbat's Countdown is an original tribute to both The Amazing Spider-Man as a comic book as well as the MEGA EVENT of a Spider-Man movie:applaud.Let the Countdown continue. If need be, include all In Continuity mini series and go until we get a specific date for 2012. Then start all over again:word:
I've been calling for a new director and main actor for some time now so the Re boot is great news to me.
Can anyone say WEB SHOOTERS:spidey:
Spidey rules

BTW-What's the name of the Hypester that you carried on the Countdown duties from? He should be given his due credit.Don't want a Lee/Ditko thing happening!

Great idea, you guys! I look forward to this thread too. What will the new topic title be called?

Can anyone say WEB SHOOTERS:spidey:
Web shooters.

The new reboot begins in high school, but hopefully Spidey doesn't stay there like in Ultimate. :awesome: I'm happy about the reboot though.

Honestly, I know it could be good to see another take on Spidey...but the thought of rebooting a franchise which I thoroughly enjoy just makes me angry. Not to mention, the franchise is only 8 years old...and we just had a movie, what, 3 years ago? And now it's reboot time?!

Argh. Every time I hear them talk about making it "grimmer, grittier", I die a little bit inside.

Still, hooray for keeping this thread going! I love seeing the covers!

The article doesn't mention that. I think you're referring to people's comments on it. And people, frankly, are usually full of crap.

He's mentioned in the first post of this thread... I always give credit where credit it due...

His name is Reader, and he's a fellow Canucklehead, and we've kept in touch throughout the years... he laughed when I sent him a link to this thread...

He started when it was 441 days left until Spider-Man I, but then he got lazy in the later parts of the 300's and I took over with 347 days left and I have been still going strong since (with some help from VanillaClones back in December of 2006 (for Spider-Man II) when I was in the Caribbean for 2 weeks)...

Hype History... learn it and know it.

:yay:

If you read one of the articles @ newsarama and/or the SHHype's main page, I beleive I saw a mention of something along those lines... though I might be full of crap as well...:o

I thought I read them, but I don't remember seeing any "grim and gritty" comments.

But then I could be fulla crap. I'm people too......

Soylent Crap is people!!!!! It's people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know. It's a very frightening leap into unknown territory. I spent every waking moment up until the night I saw Spider-Man dreading it. I just knew it was going to be the worst cinematic experience of my life, and that any joy would be robbed of me after every horrendous scene...

...and I was proved wrong. SO wrong. I loved every second of it. By the end of it, I couldn't have imagined a better way to pull it off. Then came part 2. I dreaded that one all the way up until the day I saw it. After that, I finally had my favorite movie ever (still is, right there with Empire). Then came part 3, and I was pumped. I watched it, and I was slightly disappointed, but, having seen X3, Superman 3, and Batman Forever (vomits in mouth), I was pleased to at least have the same team on there, and the story of the three main protagonists neatly wrapped up.

Part 4 had me cautiously optimistic, and now, I'm dreading it again. I hope I'm proved wrong, but the thought of someone making Spidey a young teenager and starting over again so soon just seems excessive. Yes, they can probably make it more true to the comics, but they could also make it so much worse...just look at Schumacher's Batman movies. Not reboots, but a reimagining that killed a franchise for nearly a decade.

I'm just hoping that they don't dumb it down or kid it up to the point of total ruin. As for the Grim and Gritty, it's somethign I saw on several news stories about this, and that would be a fate worse than death. Dark Spidey gets old really quick. Raimi will be sorely missed by me.

Actually, the Raimi version of Spider-Man 4 had a script that was legendarily bad among people who read it. Avi Arad and some other suits had interfered and produced something that was even worse than Spider-Man 3. That's why Raimi and Maguire walked. If Spider-Man 4 had happened, it would have been the "Batman and Robin" of the series (I already believe Spider-Man 3 was the "Batman Forever"). Personally, I'm happy it's getting rebooted. It was becoming tired.

Aloha,
I think the same thing in the comics happened to the movies. Peter Parker AGED faster in the three movies than Harry Potter has in all of his.I did NOT think that Spidey 4 was going to regain it's record from the Dark Knight.Raimi/Mag did a FANTASTIC job,but I think their time was up. Looking forward to a Spidey that is NOT based upon 'ALL ABOUT A GIRL". Also looking forward to web shooters.

As much as I loved the first movie, that bugged the crap out of me. I can't blame them, after the success of Titanic, I think any movie that wanted to draw a big audience had to have the romance angle included. But it should have (in my mind) been a part of the story, not THE story.
