Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread

Indeed. And what was with that scene where Mary Jane beats up Peter in a playground?

There are a lot of parts of the finished movie where the mask actually is a bandanna. You can especially see it in the fight scene in Josie's Bar. They ultimately changed it and tried to hide the bandanna in the footage they couldn't reshoot through darkening the image, but it's definitely there.

That was probably yet another battle in the "clothing doesn't work in real life like it does in comics" war. I wouldn't be shocked if they do something vaguely similar with the new costume, so that he can movie his head properly and avoid cowl-bunching.

Here's a rough, unfinished sketch I did when brainstorming ideas for the costume (with a quick color job):

I may devote more time into making a more refined version eventually.

not bad, not bad at all. I don't Marvel are going to have as difficult a time Fox did adapting the costume. Its fairly straightforward.

It proves that Fox didn't understand anything in term of comic book movies, because the red DD costume is really easy to translate on screen compared to the one of Spiderman or Captain America.

And yes, the costume above isn't bad at all

What's the difference between the poster and movie version, and why couldn't the poster version be used in the movie?
They are the same costume
Neck strap closing will make it annoying to move the neck

Take this idea with a grain of salt because I'm mostly thinking out loud here. But what about like a crimson colored Spider-Man Noir type outfit?

Good joke. Now how about some serious suggestions?

I like the mask/shirt and best from that outfit but I'd remove the goggles and change the pants,Plus of course add horns

Im ok with the movie version

But the poster version of the suit would be alot better

The difference is in the thickness of the material. the poster version seem more snug and less bulky
Funny enough, I agree completely. I loved the suit from the movie, the only thing I truly loved.
Yet it was so far from the depiction of the poster! It was bulkier, darker (almost brown), opened, not so cool within the film. But the poster? I love it, it's great, thiner, more red, and I always thought it was nice to have an easy-to-find/make accessible outfit for a blind advocate from hell's kitchen instead of a expensive military thing. It made sense.
I love it.

Serious question (from someone who hasn't read any Daredevil, or watched the previous film)... who designs/makes his costume?

BW, Hawkeye, and Cap all have SHIELD outfits (and also the military for the later). Iron Man builds his own custom suits. Hulk just wears whatever industrial-grade stretchy-pants Banner happens to be wearing at the time, and Thor probably has a whole entourage of Royal Asguardian Taylors. Both Spider-man franchises have at least a token scene or two dedicated to Parker designing his own suit.

So what about Matt Murdoch? It seems custom made, but by whom? I'm curious!

Spider-Man wears spandex and everyone ok. If other heroes do it it's blasphemy now !!! ???? How is that ??

Spider-Man's more lighthearted and whimsical. Spandex fits his personality. Plus, he's more pertly super powered and durable, so protective clothing isn't a priority for him. Daredevil, on the other hand, is darker and more pragmatic, and has the same physical frailties as a normal person. Spandex would seem silly on him, and would seem like poor planning on his part. Different characters, different tones, different needs. There's no one size fits all for superheroes.

That sounds like a really good idea. It would feel character-appropriate, and it would add some nice texture to the design.

I would use these are reference, put them on an inspiration wall, while designing DD's new TV show costume.
These costumes are the way things are going lately. And the main theme seems to be not to just use leather, but to use
fabrics and some armor-ish parts and layer them to look more interesting but still not making the character's too bulky or
cheesy.

This could be used as where to layer it and add different fabrics and different
padding and colors and such.

I could see them using this are reference for where the armory parts could go.
But I think they should make it all red, but maybe they will have to mute the
color a little so that its not to bright. I mean Batman was black/Blue and gray
before the films made his costume black armor.

I really want him to be in something where he can be extremely flexible and acrobatic. He needs to be able to move nearly as nimbly as Spidey so what he wears needs look like it allows for this. He's the man without fear so i dont want the protective armor or pads to be overdone.

Not sure if you were commenting on my post, but I agree. Just to clarify
my post, I wasn't saying he should be padded or armored. Just that the
costume shouldn't be like the other movie where he was all leather and
they shouldn't feel like they have to make him in all black like the TV
one. Making his costume out of different layers of fabric, like Spider-Man
(the new and old one)

Different layers and different fabrics to make it more interesting and
maybe more realistic. Rather than one layer or armor or leather.

But also he (if its live action, heard it could be animated) would also be
existing in the same universe as the Avengers. So they might want to
take that into consideration. And I could see them doing something
similar to what Black Widow has had. Also maybe use ideas from the
Hawkeye costume too, the different fabrics and straps and such:

Here is his costume from Marvel's Ultimate Alliance 2 video game:

I think that Daredevil costume would be acceptable, and its definitely live-action they had a press conference saying its being filmed in New York.

I thought Daredevil's first movie costume was actually pretty great. I can't wait to see what they come up with this time..

I wonder if they'll use the yellow suit at all...

I'm really liking the look of that UA 2 costume posted above. I definitely feel it needs to be light and flexible

For a while Melvin Potter (The Gladiator) was making his costume. Potter was a former villain turned straight, by DD, and in return he made his costumes. Potter owns a costume shop. i have no idea who made them before that. I only go back to the 80's
