Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread

Why would anyone think they'd not have costumes? All the superheroes to date have had costumes. They just aren't *comic exact* costumes. The fact that Falcon isn't dressed in red and white doesn't change the fact that he very much has a costume, for example.

I'm iffy on how much effort Marvel is going to put into "differentiating", honestly. By the time this comes out, it'll have been well over 10 years since the original Daredevil movie. Its not like they need to work hard to separate themselves from a recent bomb.

Which is another way of saying "don't expect anything too radically divergent, seeing as the prior movie costume is pretty close to comic accurate, given actual real world material". If your hoping for body-tight spandex, prepare for disappointment.

No, I'm just not expecting to see the ugly 2003 costume again. Leather is the worst possible choice for material.

Spider-Man wears spandex and everyone ok. If other heroes do it it's blasphemy now !!! ???? How is that ??

Seriously, Spider-Man does look fantastic.
So long as it isn't overly thin Lulu Lemon Pants type material I think it can work.

Oh and damn, I've never followed Arrow, but the new picture of Flash really has my hopes up for quality costumes in the Netflix Marvel shows.
It's leaps and bounds better looking than any other costumes I recall from Arrow.

I am not against the leather armor. It would make sense that a guy without a bulletproof skin would try to protect himself, expecially if he feel the pain more than a "normal" guy, having supersenses.

But It has some drawbacks : A martial art artist and the use of his supersenses would be handicapped.

for the design, the poster costume wasn't bad. But with some minor changes like this, it would have been better.

Thank God for that. Never was a fan of the motorcycle jumpsuit.

He's supposed to move similarly to Spidey and therefore needs an unrestrictive suit. One thing i hated about the movie suit is how it made DD look like a lumbering fighter.

They'll probably wait to see how the new Batman costume is made, since that's meant to be very different from anything gone before.

Come to think of it, Marvel haven't made any skin-tight costumes like Spider-Man's yet. It's time they created one. They certainly won't reuse the 2003 DD costume that's for sure, because it will be associated with Fox, and they'll want to distance themselves both from that studio and that production.

Might as well post it here too! This is the style I hope they go towards. Daredevil comic artist Chris Samnee drew this, and I love the more layered feel to it than the regular "body paint" look.

This is really cool.

Eh, it'd probably come off as too silly for the show's tone. I mean, unless you *want* the show to have a campy tone.

I honestly don't understand why more cinematic superhero costumes aren't made out of the Spidey spandex material because it is perfect.

The wetsuit type suits they used for the Fantastic Four costumes in the story films also look pretty good.

I didn't hate the movie costume as much as most, but why they didn't make the D's larger I'll never know. Plus, if I remember correctly, Fox was extremely concerned with people confusing him with Spider-Man if they didn't do something pretty drastic to set them apart. Studios just have zero faith in audiences.

Honestly?

Yeah, it's discussed in great detail on the DVD if I remember correctly, and they had some crazy designs a lot with hoodies or the headpiece actually bring a bandana.

There are a lot of parts of the finished movie where the mask actually is a bandanna. You can especially see it in the fight scene in Josie's Bar. They ultimately changed it and tried to hide the bandanna in the footage they couldn't reshoot through darkening the image, but it's definitely there.

The point somebody brought up about the yellow suit and the tone is interesting. My assumption would be they're going for the 80's Miller Daredevil, gritty, Scorsese kind of ting which would be great if they can nail it. I'd also be happy if they pulled off kind of a swashbuckling current Mark Waid tone. Or a third viable option would be the kind of modern thriller but with ninjas thing Bendis was doing, which I would also enjoy. Each one would require a slightly different approach to the suit, I think. What about you guys?

But Daredevil wears red and Spider-Man wears red so it's totally the same! Plus, they both also jump around on rooftops.

I get them confused all the time.

I thought Favreau was playing Aunt May. :o
