Iron Man 3 The Iron Man 3 Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 1

I'm always glad when a movie I like makes money, but who really cares? As long as the film makes enough for a sequel I'm good!:)

I just want as many super-hero films as we can get. Some will be good, some not-so-good, but bring them on.

I don't have stock in any company, so the box office results don't affect me.

Still nice to see the MCU doing well. Means more MCU movies!

Another 1.6 million to pass Hunger Games - hope it stays in the theaters long enough to do so...

I think Disney is going to reclaim some theaters after all the summer tentpoles have been released just to break that record and approach Toy Story 3 :)

:im:

Another 240 grand this weekend. Its up to 406.8M Domestic. Should be able to pass hunger games domestic total if IM3 stays in cinemas long enough.

$241,000 - $406,850,688

Iron Man 3 already passed The Hunger Games as the #13 highest grossing domestic movie of all time at $408,195,474.

Is it still making money at the box office? I would have thought it'd be completely out of it by now.

IM3 is in the dollar theaters now, which gave it a great bump. I think this was its second week. It could squeeze out another million or so before it closes.

So Catching Fire will overtake IM3 as the #1 film of 2013 within the next 2-3 weeks.

Ahem... It's 2014 now. 2013 grosses only apply for 2013. It's official. Iron Man 3 was the top grossing film of the year. 'Nuff said.

Also, last I heard, Catching Fire wasn't even close to a billion yet. So, no, its not the number one film of the year, even if you count whatever it gains in 2014.

Do you even follow box office? If the film is released in that year, its grosses count as towards that year. Hence Avatar being the #1 film of 2009 despite only grossing $283,624,210 before December 31st, 2009. You're really showing your ignorance there.

I'm clearly talking about domestic. IM3 is the #5 film all time worldwide. NO film will be touching that record until May 2015.:word:

By next weekend Catching Fire will be #1 domestic.

Yes and I'm sure fans of those movies raved as well. And it made $1.5 billion. Big difference.
looking back in retrospect, I was probably wrong.
16 films total is not "plenty." Especially since when Avengers came out, it was only 11.
16 films definitely is plenty, and so is 11. I thought it was impressive back when rotk did it.
Someone's trolling LOL
I wasn't trolling you fool. I meant it back then but I realize now it was wrong.

That's what I was thinking after seeing his name and also his posting history (nothing since July of last year and all in Batman forums.)
I joined the site because I was really hyped up about dkr.
Plenty of other films made 1 billion? You're just exaggerating to try to undermine Avengers' box office success.
plenty of films have made the billion mark, I stand by that comment, but I was wrong about the avenger's feat.
Yeah... 3rd highest grossing film of all time. No big deal at all.
not saying it ain't a big deal but several other films have cracked the billion mark.
Don't feed the Nolanites.
i resent that. you don't know anything about me but perhaps i should fill you in. i was excited about dkr a lot and that's what got me to join this forum and on the contrary, I had a lot of problems with dkr but I think tdk is still exceptional.
His username gives it away too:cwink:
wat? that i'm a fan of the portrayal of bane in dkr? in all honesty it was a mistake to make it this. bane was not as fun to watch as I expected him to be.

The fact that only one film managed to reach 1 billion this year and there is a huge doubt on which film will do it next year proves that one billion is still a big milestone.

if a film a year gets to do it I don't it's that huge of a milestone but it still has merit. it's not like billions of dollars in a box office are made once every...5 or 6 years. it's like almost every year, so it's practically to be expected.

IM3 is about to lose its domestic box office crown. And rather easily i must say. Catching Fire will pass it this week after only 40 or so days released in the theaters.

And studios say that female-led films aren't profitable :whatever:

LOL yea but Katniss is a monster female:) Kudos to that franchise its really showing everybody up. I dont know where the limit to it is. The fact that is is going to blow by IM3 without 3d puts it in darkknight territory. Very impressive. Its overseas base has grown as well. The next one will be a billion dollar film.

it's also because jennifer lawrence is the biggest superstar in the world right now.
