This movie won't even come close to Titantic. It's a good movie but it just doesn't have the draw that Titanic had. The majority of the people who see this won't go a second time while with Titanic you had people going 3-4 times. Avatar is good but it may not even beat HP which was the top movie of the year so far.

remember when i weeks ago posted this article about 3D subtitles? how they are expensive to do?
now i found out that in my country they went out and spend a lot of money to make quallity 3D subtitles for Avatar. they belived in the movie and they expected a lot of people in the 3D theaters. and since they all complained about Coraline's and Beowulf's subtitles they made them 3D. they looked good and they were not distracting.

this was just big luck for me.

OMG!!! :wall:

I posted a video and a Social network screenshot clearly proving that YES people (Average people NOT geeks) will go see this movie again and again!!

Here is my best arguement why TDK could not do what Avatar can and WILL, and I think it's a very fair/logical statement. :)

NO Incredible Special Effect like this Avatar movie has

Also NOT in 3D!

And, #3 NO Love story like this

Don't get me wrong, TDK is an Oscar-worthy movie, but these three factors MATTERS! :)

can't agree. you are sometimes forgetting what you are arguing because it will make money. but you need something extraordinary to take down a goliath.

special effects? not enough to drive the movie.

the love story in this film is pretty usual. nothing extraordinary there.

how much do you think the 3D will make? and you have to take into account that many will see it in 3D, so it will only take away from the 2D's money pile. not in addition.

i predict it will make $300 mil. pushing it maybke to 350 but that is being VERY generous.

 Alright we will see then

I posted facts (Videos, Social Network screenshot) to prove my points and I think that's good enough IMO.

You don't think so, maybe you are ignorant or maybe you are RIGHT and I am ignorant.

Only time will tell!

I see NO need to argue further about this...

I am trying to see Avatar again today, so I am going to get some rest! :)

'' holly s... i made a 500 million movie. how the hell are we going to make a profit? ''
''breath mr Cameron''

The article talks about a scene with a creature called a Sturmbeest being deleted from the film. There are some video game pictures of the Sturmbeest online but they don't really do the creature justice.

There was a hi-res image posted in the old Avatar thread around the time of Comic-Con I think, of a sculpt created by Weta. The sculpt was of the head of the creature and it was coloured blue and looked kind of like a rhino but with a lot of creepy alien qualities.

Would someone be able to find this pic?

i liked how it looked like a small kid for the first time in a forest touching everything.

i was wondering about that animal! i remember seeing it in the video game screencaps but it was nowhere in the movie. sucks that things like that have to be cut from the movie but most of the GA would probably be turned off by a 3 hour film.

this ?

Exactly what I am trying to tell people who complains about the movie's plot!

There is nothing wrong with the plot, it's just not as mind-blowing as these people want it to.

James Cameron never promised the plot is mind-blowing, so whose fault is it to expect a mind-blowing plot from this movie?

Anyway,:wall: ENOUGH about the movie's plot quality it's like beaten a dead horse already. Can we actually discuss the movie themes, or the publicity of this movie instead?
People are TRYING to discuss it and you keep refusing to discuss it because their view differ from your own.

i might go see AVATAR for a 3rd time this weekend but this time in Digital 3D

^ Yeah, I experienced the subtitles as distracting/annoying (I'm in Sweden)... until I learned to ignore them.

You know...I think this film had a really strong story. The story was really lead by the characters and their actions...not merely a by-the-numbers plot. It was a character story with some very dramatic moments which lead to some really fantastic story telling.

i know that. but i meant how he moved in that shot. it looked so innocent
yeah, i loved it. i quoted her cuz i was agreeing with you ;) he was playing with the plants then she called his name and he almost had a look on his face like "awwww maannn!!!"

i wonder what it made on monday.
don't know, but my theater was sold out. i bought my tickets early and STILL had to sit near the front. when i came out around 9:30 there was a long line for the next showing.

You seriously think Sherlock Holmes will be #1, when the Word of Mouth for Avatar has just begun?

A LOT of people in NE couldn't see it 1st week due to Snow, so they will see it the second week.

Avatar will not be beaten by Sherlock Holmes, period.

This (as you can see in the video) is also a Global phenomeon!
Audience reaction videos are staged and the people are often paid. Besides, it's not a "global" phenomenon if those reactions didn't come from around the globe.

Can we face facts and admit that Avatar did not set the world on fire?

yea thats why you have to wait 1hr - 2hr before the show to get good seats, the first time i saw it i had kinda good seats but i was on the far left but the second time i got good seats, right in the middle.

so they were not in 3D? to bad.

I don't know what it means for the text to be 3D... it did seem to pop out... that was sort of the problem to me. Or maybe a lot of the stuff popped in behind it. What was distracting was that it felt like the text was waaaaaay up front, sort of pushing itself upon me. I had to resort to not reading the text (not a big problem for most of the movie, I usually only use subtitles when it's a language I don't know, or if people are speaking unclearly).
