Yes, you're probably right. I never understood the point of people doing that.Trololololol
My heart is just aching right now for the issues surrounding Christians and the gay community. While we should never support gay marriage as its important not to compromise our beliefs, the way we as Christians keep handling the situation is unbiblical and really only serves the enemy and weakens our position to share the gospel and plant seeds.
More of us need to take a lesson from Jesus conversation with the women at the well. Thats the key word so many of us miss conversation. Just imagine if Jesus had walked up to her and said You disgust me. What you are doing is sick. Repent!! Or go to hell. He KNEW who she was and what she had done, but He didnt respond to her in that way (the way so common of us Christians nowadays) he had a conversation with her. He treated her with the respect any human deserves to be given and when he saw an opportunity to plant the seed of the gospel He did and then left her with that so the Holy Spirit could do the work in her.
Thats the problem with us Christians today. WE want to change people, we think we have the power. Not only that, many of us dont even given the gay community the basic human respect any human should be given. There is a difference between staying firm in your beliefs and dehumanizing a person. Once we dehumanize someone it ceases to be about belief based on the Holy Scripture and instead becomes bigotry. A bigotry born from our own broken heart that disgusts instead of loves. Looks down upon instead of lifts up. Spits upon instead of serving.
Instead of holding up hateful signs and disrespecting others we should meet them at the well and show them love, speak to them and if the opportunity arrives plant the seed that so that the Holy Spirit allow it to grow. And while God does not NEED us to do His work, our current behavior does damage to His name and pushes people farther away from Him. Its as if we are clouded in confusion and unable to understand the Holy Scripture, we see the issue with such tunnel vision we cant see how we serve the spirit of enemy instead of the grace, the peace and the gentleness of the one, true Spirit of God.
Squeak, I tell you, squeak! LOLThe Mighty Squeek! Has Spoken!![]()
I agree with the sentiment of this. I think it would be the greater crime to make someone turn away from God because we spat rabid hatred for homosexuality at them, making them think they can never be worthy. But being a very liberal Christian, I will say that I DO approve of gay marriage mainly because it promotes monogamy. While I admit I do have the minority position, I feel God made gay people gay because this pleased Him in some way (He doesn't make mistakes, right?) and they serve His purpose in being so, but they should be just as monogamous as the rest of us. I think we should treat homosexuals with respect and all that, but gay marriage is a joke.

Hospitaller: I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is here

Hospitaller: and here

Hospitaller: and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not.
I do appreciate Jesus. It seems like he was a nice guy.
Doesn't like the Bible, doesn't believe the Gospel of Jesus-Christ but yet can't stay away from a thread titled "The Jesus Christ Appreciation and Worship Thread".![]()

Do you realize that you can appreciate a human being and their philosophy without worshiping them? I dont have to get down on my hands and knees or agree with Paul to appreciate Jesus and participate in a community discussion about the guy. Nor do I have to support the hatred or poor judgment of good people to be in here.
T
he point he was making was this is the Jesus Christ Appreciation and Worship Thread. Not the "Jesus was a nice guy and pretty good teacher, but I don't believe in Him and actively dislike Christians in general" Thread.
