BvS The Jimmy Olsen Casting Thread

I like the Donald Glover suggestion, he'd bring some major comic relief. I also like Jacob Zachar as well, a bit of an older version, I think he'd be a great Jimmy Olsen.

Is Jimmy Olsen truly necessary for the Man of Steel-verse? I don't know. I find the whole Jimmy Olsen, Superman's bestest pal, thing kind of annoying and outdated. SR played a huge part in turning me off to the character. He was so incredibly obnoxious. Even in Superman: TAS he came off kind of iffy even though they made updates to his characterization for the time.

SR aside, I think Olsen is a huge part of the mythos and he could play a valuable role in MOS2. Jimmy looks up to and admires Clark in most versions, and Clark really does consider Jimmy as a friend. I think Clark having a friend like Jimmy would be a great way to show how much the character has progressed since we last saw him. MOS really didn't show Clark developing any relationships as a child. We assume maybe Pete and Lana were friends, but it seems he carried the outcast tag around for quite a while, and into adulthood. Jimmy is one of Clark's true friends, and he doesn't judge him. Jimmy also is a die-hard Superman supporter who believes in him...and usually supports him against the grain. I think he is very much needed for the mythos and MOS2.

I agree. I want jimmy in the movie and don't see why they'd exclude him. I thought Jenny was his replacement at first, but her last name wasn't Olsen.

I wasn't opposed to making Jimmy into a female at first, but then her name was different so I didn't know if she was intended to be him or not. If she is essentially Jimmy, I hope they develop her more and use her like they would Jimmy.

Funny thing is I think he would have made a pretty good Jimmy Olsen.

I'd be okay with a female Jimmy as long as they cast an actor who actually acted like Olsen. The actress who played Jenny just seemed like a regular female office worker.

Alsion Brie or jane Levy would be better pics to actually play a female version of the Jimmy character.

Jenny gave one of the best, most heartfelt and convincing moment in MoS (which had plenty of them.) Her scream and her act of worry, then locking eyes with Perry, you could just see a black hole and anticipation of death succumb her. It was an amazing moment in MoS..imo.

Yeah, she was good. The character and the actress and i would not really have had a problem if they wanted to change the character.
